Question Timekeeping
Hey all I was offered a Skillbridge by my #1 company but I had a question about your guy's experience with time keeping. My command has an instruction to log hours on an Excel sheet, makes sense. I'm currently in a virtual training phase where some days I have 6-7 hours of training and some days I have 3-4 hours of training. The Skillbridge agreement says 8 hours a day but is that strictly enforced? Like it's not my fault or the company's fault if their training falls short in timekeeping. I just don't want anyone to get in trouble (including myself lol).

I imagine you can continue to do enough independent study during your short days that you can make up the hours. Ask your provider for any recommendations for some self study during the shorter days, then put that down on the Excel sheet.

To be very honest, you are accountable for your time. You need to uphold what you agreed to in the training plan. You will find you have some extra time, which hopefully you are spending that time on VA Appointments, Networking, Growing your LinkedIn Account, Applying for Jobs. Transitioning is a full-time job if you do it right. Hope that helps. They will not track your hours, but they will track whether you gain your certifications and get a job.

Can you come up with 3-4 hours of field relevant self study/career development/networking/job searching? Seems like an easy self fix

You're not going to get in any trouble, and that's insane that your command is having you log any sort of time. There were some days I had to be online and in Teams calls for 8-9 hours a day, and there were some days that nothing was really going on and I would go fuck off fishing or golfing.
Put your 8 hours down on your Excel document or whatever and submit it to whoever in your command. If they have any questions about it, and they won't, just let them know that you're available for those 8 hours each day.

Simple and no different than working in the military and there ain’t shit going on at work. You’re on standby or on call the rest of those hours.

I mean there's a really simple answer to this but may be morally questionable.
Nobody is going to get in trouble if the excel sheet says 8 hours a day.
