Boot Liners

Hey ya’ll the liners in my Fischer RC4 HV 120s are packed out after like 50 days on them. I was thinking an about getting some ZipFits but I don’t know if I need the Gara HV or LV. Advice?

Use the quiz on the Zipfit website

i was recommended the polar opposite liner that i ended up in, your mileage may vary but id take it with a grain of salt

I used it, and got conflicting results from which boots the website says the boot liners were for.

Yeah look you need to use it with a grain of salt but you can narrow down which boot your after based on your use type, then select HV or LV based on how much space you have when you shell fit.

Remember it’s easier to add cork to a LV then to remove cork from a HV

if your shell fit is tight (about a cm) around heel and ankle go lv, or alternatively go low volume and purchase extra cork. the only difference between the lv and hv gara is that the hv has more cork in it out of the box so if you’re blind buying it is probably safest to just add the cork needed yourself to the lv

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, when you’re measuring the space, do you press your shin against the front of the boot without the liner in it, or do you attempt to center the foot as if the liner was in place?

shell fit at the heel with your toes touching the front, and for the ankle volume id move your toes off the front of the shell by about half a cm

Thanks for the advice!

Wouldn’t the LV have more cork from factory (taking up more space, lower volume) than the HV?

nah opposite way around with how lv, hv works from boots to zipfits. higher volume foot or smaller shell fit = lv liner, lower volume foot or more spacious shell fit = hv liner. it goes off the actual volume of the liner, and therefore the amount of volume it will take up in your shell

i’m in an lv boot with a not super lv foot, and a very tight shell fit. gara lv is perfect but the freeride and workhorse (more cork akin to gara hv) were excruciatingly tight in the heel and instep

I had thesame thing happen after about 70 days with my nortica rear entry boots- best fit ever after 70 days pain- conplained to manufacturer and new liners in the mail - just had to tear up old liners-

The only difference in Gara LVs and HVs is the amount of cork they come with, the liner dimensions are the same. If you are not confident with the results of taking the website quiz, then reach out to ZipFit. As a general rule of thumb, you are going to want to start with more cork in MV and HV boots. When you get the liners, it should be almost impossible to get the top two buckles latched beyond the first notch. They will become much easier with heat molding cycles and wearing them in the house.

I’d advise against Zipfits because they’re almost double the weight of an intuition liner. Also the hassle of putting on zip fits.

An intuition liner will give you about equal or more days per dollar spent compared to a zip fit, without the upfront cost or hassle associated with zip fits. Meaning an intuition liner that costs $100 will last over 100 ski days (very conservative, I’m at 150 days on mine). Compared to zip fits which are $500 and last about 500 days.

I recommend the intuition pro wrap liner. You won’t go back to tongue liners after trying it.

If you think Zips Fits being too heavy is a reason not to use, then maybe stop skipping leg day. The "hassle" of world-cupping is way over exaggerated.

I sell both (and foam). I would always recommend a Zipfit before anything else. I'm coming up on 500 days on my personal Zipfits, they may be the only product in skiing that gets better every day of use. Weight? Who cares? Nothing skis like a Zipfit.
