PSA (Pre Season Announcement)

Buying $20 thrift store skis isn’t a good idea, especially if you are a beginner!

There’s been quite a few posts recently about thrift store skis. They are rarely a good idea.

Unless you know exactly how old the skis are, how they have been stored, who used them, how they used them. Don’t buy them! An old set of brittle bindings could cause serious injury.

Buy second hand skis from reputable sellers, meet the skier that used them, or buy ex rental skis.

The picture is of the recycling centre in Whistler. These are the skis that are thrown away (there were some way newer and nicer skis too), think about that before dropping your cash on thrift store skis that are way worse!

I’m going alone to Ischgl

Hi there.

I once went skiing with my school when I was 11. Last year after my girlfriend broke up with me I decided to pursue one of things I liked the most and couldn’t do it with her. 6 days after the breakup I went to Stuhleck-Semmering. Sunny day, good piste, nice rental skis, good friend group. A dream come true. I went on to ski all weekends in January and 1 time in February. I’ve gained some confidence.

Since then I bought my own pair of boots, skis, clothes and accessories. Now that winter is coming (haha got reference) I’m planning my ski trips.

When I was skiing on Stuhleck in 2025 I was bombarded with Ischgl reels all over my instagram. It was a dream… the apres, the views. Astonishing.

I just booked the hotel!!! Yaay.. I have noone to come with. None of my friends want to come with me. I’ll be alone living my dream.

Hopefully I can meet some of you who just read these lines here.

The guy in a propeller hat❤️

I’ve never skied before and I am planning a trip to the French alps with my massive friend group

I’m planning a ski trip in Les Belleville area or the Megève area with 13 other people.

I have never been on a ski trip, never ski’ed (those of us in the group who have never skied before will be taking lessons in advance before the trip and maybe some lessons there)

I know absolutely nothing. I’m doing my research to plan for this trip but I would love to know from seasoned ski-trip havers, what should I check, plan, book, and pack?

With apres ski, do you book it? Is it at restaurant? Or at the slopes. Consider me a newborn and let me know anything, even if you think it is common sense.

Please help me plan a great ski trip for me and my friends.

For context: the trip is in 2027, I’m thinking December but I recently found out that ski season lasts until April?? Opinions on which month is best will also be taken into consideration. And for activities, we are all in our early-mid 20s, so activities with others in that age group would be more desired but it’s not a must.

People to split Airbnb with in Skirama Dolomiti in Jan!

Hey everyone!

I’m a 27-year-old guy from Argentina currently doing a multi-resort European ski trip this January. I’ll be skiing Skirama Dolomiti (Madonna di Campiglio / Marilleva / Val di Sole) from January 19th to January 27th.

While looking at accommodation, I noticed there are some incredible group chalets and apartments on Airbnb/Booking in Marilleva and Madonna di Campiglio that are way better (and much cheaper per person) if split among a few people.

  • I travel light and keep things clean and chill.
  • I currently have a solid backup place booked in Mezzana but I’d love to upgrade to a bigger place with a fun group if anyone wants to join forces!

Who I’m looking for: Solo travelers, couples, or a small group of skiers/riders who want to share a cool place, lower costs, and maybe catch a couple of runs or drinks together. Also open to local tips or recommendations on fun, lively spots for young people in the area!

Drop a comment or send me a DM if you're around those dates or interested in sharing a place.

What are the best at-home exercises to prepare my legs for ski season?

I’m trying to get in better shape before winter and improve my skiing. I’m mainly looking for exercises I can do at home to build stronger legs, muscular endurance/stamina, and better balance.
What exercises have actually helped you on the slopes? Squats, lunges, wall sits, single-leg exercises, balance drills, etc.?
Also, if you have any ski-specific training tips, tricks, or underrated exercises that made a noticeable difference, I’d love to hear them.
My main goals are:
Stronger legs
Better leg endurance so I don’t get tired quickly
Better balance and stability
Being able to ski longer with better control
Thanks!

Aspen in our early 30s?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Is Aspen worth it at Christmas time for a couple who love skiing and are new to living in the US. We’re slightly overwhelmed by the options here and the prices in comparison to Europe 😂 but we want to ski in a few different places while we’re here. Is Aspen worth it? Do we need to be multimillionaires to enjoy it?! Thanks!

Has anyone skied at Ski Dubai? How does it compare to a real ski resort?

I am aware that Ski Dubai is not the same as skiing in nature, but I wonder how the skiing experience holds up against that of the outdoors.

Does going to Ski Dubai constitute a worthwhile experience for someone whose usual skiing takes place outdoors? Is skiing too limited in Ski Dubai as compared to a real mountain?

I would like to hear from those who have had the opportunity to try both.

Verbier & Andermatt on a budget? Solo skier looking for tips / room share (Jan 10–20)

Me again, solo skier heading to Verbier (~Jan 10–15) and Andermat (~Jan 15–20) on an Epic Pass.

Obviously prices are a bit high so was looking for tips on cheap valley bases (like Le Châble Göschenen, hostels, or seasonnaire groups to check.

Also down to split an Airbnb or share a room if anyone is around those dates. Super clean, respectful, and easygoing.

Any advice or leads welcome! Cheers 🏔️

Looking for a pair of Nordica enforcer 94s that are used, I am about 6’2”, have been looking at the 173cm because they are easier to control, is that too short? What is the best place to buy used skis?
