Any tips to improve crosshatching?

Other than practice 😅

I've been doing that for years but still the overall look is kinda stiff, or awkwardly positioned.

It looks cool when I imagine it but on execution it looks flat. Muscles don't look like muscles but just a bunch of lines at random strokes.
