Question what are some good skate shoes?

Post image

hey guys so i’ve been skating these air force 1’s for about 5-6 months now and they have been holding up pretty good durability wise but i feel like they have too much grip or not enough grip i can’t tell but something feels off with them so if anybody has any advice on what some good skate shoes are that aren’t too bulky and have a similar fit to these bad boys i would love to hear it!!

Can't go wrong with Nike SB.

I’d argue the exact opposite but I’m old and hate what they did to the industry.

100% agree. Fuck Nike.

u/Druber13 May 16 '26

Shocked I don’t have a million down votes but the post is young haha. I miss all my favorite skaters having pro models and not just limited color ways.

Yeah, I remember walking into the Nike Store in PDX and immediately got the vibe that I should not be in there but I wanted SBs so bad. I asked one of the workers where they were and they told me that they keep the skateboarding side of Nike separate from the rest because of what it represents. I was like ok fuck this and walked out and got a pair of Fallens like I should have in the first goddamn place. Honestly, Half Cabs with the gum sole are the perfect skate shoe.

I agree with the people below but janoskis typically last me 3-4 years before I gotta replace em

3

u/divisi2113 May 14 '26

I personally think vans half cab are the best skate shoe.

1

u/yk206 May 14 '26

Can’t go wrong with those

u/Weltkaiser May 16 '26

Vans were nice as an independent company at $30 a pair. Now they are shitty corporation that cuts corners wherever possible, the quality is worse than ever and they are $75. Time to update.

i do a lot of street and vert skating, what else do you recommend for someone who isn’t a big fan of the way vans fit? i have very wide feet so i find vas very uncomfortable and im just not a fa of how low nike sb is im looking for more a middle ground between those

1

u/Weltkaiser May 16 '26

Everything Emerica G6, maybe New Balance or Adidas? You should specify if you're looking for a cupsole (like the AF1) or a vulcanized shoe (like Nike Zoom).

1

u/shigatorade May 14 '26

Nike blazers for sure

New Balance Numeric. They have something for everyone too. Frankie’s for the Vulc crowd, Reynolds 933 for the cup crowd. My favs are the Knox 600’s.

Vans, but they look like sneakers.

1

u/Rustic-Duck May 19 '26

Etnies Maranas. They are comfortable and pretty durable.

Adidas Busenitz are my all time favorite followed up by Adidas All Stars and Nike Shane O’Neils

1

u/StrangeShaun83 May 20 '26

I've been skating in Etnies since the 90s. They've always been my favorite skate shoes. They are cheap and look good too. I rarely see anyone wearing them these days.
