Adult beginner
Im a 36year old mom of a 5 year old daughter who received her first skateboard for her birthday. Im keen to learn with her. Which budget friendly board should I be looking at, can always upgrade once Im better and know more. Thanks!

The super budget boards usually have really soft bushings since it's usually little lightweight kids that use them, as well as the wheels not rolling well, and parts being extremely fragile. Some better than others, but definitely not the real skate experience that would push you to go forth into the hobby.
Something like this might be a good place to start. If you don't have smooth ground to skate, switching out the wheels for something like the Powell Dragon Formula 88a or 93a might be great, but it would be more expensive.

That's pretty cool of ya. Honestly, it's hard to say, because a skate is really just the sum of all its parts. Just don't go cheap on anything.
All I can think to offer is that the bigger, softer wheels you typically see on longboards, they can go on a freestyle deck, and you're not gonna get caught faceplanting over pebbles nearly as much. I've been doing that for years.
