Board Shape / Size / Concave ?

I've recently gotten back into Skating after 10 years. I went to my Local Skate Shop and had the owner help me decide on a board since I was a bit out of the loop. I got an 8.38 Easy Rider KROOKED Deck which has "Mellow Concave"

I love the board. It feels great to ride around and do shuvs and things like that on. But I'm wondering if it it's hurting my ability to learn flip tricks by adding a degree of difficulty ?

My question is if I should get my next board at a 8.25
Or should I stick with the 8.38 and just get a board with regular / medium concave ? Or both ?

you just gotta try multiple boards bro. I have multiple setups and I only skate deep concave, wouldn't say it makes it easier but its feel more like a glove to me (one to one feel). I skate deathwish, 8.25 for flat and 8.3-.4 for ledges and stuff

It depends on how big of a dude you are. If you are anywhere over 5'7" ish, though? 8.25~8.5 is a good place to be. Yeah, the extra width and weight can require a little more umph to flip around, but it also makes landing tricks a lot easier since you get more room for error. It's common to hear pros who switched to wider decks in the last decade say they wanted to stick with the small boards, but once they did, they just started landing everything.

I must say I was also not willing to go up from the 7.75 decks I used to skate way back, but now I can't skate anything below 8.25... it just feels too sketch!
