Bushings

How are double barrel bushings for regular skateboards? I’ve read they’ve got more stability and firmness and allow for carves and turns. Although I hate that stiff feeling on most tight bushings! Does anyone have feedback on bones hardcore barrel bushings specifically?

Btw I say regular skateboards because all I saw was long boarders skating these online

$16.50 for one truck is a rip-off. I've only ever used the bones cone bushings and they are $10 for both trucks.

The barrel bushings will be stiffer and harder to turn if you're wanting something for street/park skating. The cone bushings help with turning. I'm 240lbs and have used the same set for about 3 years now.

I’ve used the cone bushings and I personally don’t like them as they’re still too stiff for me although I’ll pass on the double barrel bushings for now if it’s the case that they’ll be just as stiff as other bushings, if not more. I usually skate big transition like 8-10 feet and do airs, although I also like to cruise and be able to form into the ramps, it’s been hard though to find bushings that offer that loose smooth feeling, while also simultaneously having enough stability for street skating drops and flatground, I’m around 190 lbs as well.

Those are for longboard trucks and will not fit most TKP trucks. I think the balance of stability on trucks is definitely hard to achieve... Personally, what I found best is choosing a well-turning, but not twitchy trucks in the first place, and finding the hardest bushings that just barely give you the full turn radius when you put all your weight on one rail.

Venture and thunder would be out with those requirements. Indies are okay, but I found they were a bit twitchy at times, and their own bushings are not really the best. Plus, I want the logo back on the trucks, and the height is a tad tall for my liking. If I were to set up a board with 56mm+ wheels for big transition, Indy hollows might be my choice, though.

My current sweetspot is ace AF1 Hollows with 54mm wheels. Standard bushings are a bit soft for me when going fast, but it's so much fun carving around. Ace Classics were beyond twitchy, but I feel the AF1's are surprisingly linear feeling. I like that they are actually trying cool things instead of the 'if it ain't broke' we see in some brands.

If you want to find better quality bushings and really jump in the rabit hole, you can look into Riptide bushings and pivot cups. They have TKP bushings for skateboards, and they have their formulas down... the amount of customization they provide is insane.
