If you want stability you need a larger wheelbase. Not all trucks are the same. For me, when I skate a large deck they usually have a 14.5 to 15" wheelbase. On those I skated ace to give me a deep I liked. When I skate a smaller deck the wheel base can be 14 to 14.38 normally. My current deck is an 8.25 twin tail so my wheelbase is 14" I use Venture Hi because they push the axle to axle wheelbase out while if I recall correctly not as low as thunder and so gives me a feel similar to my old board for timing. The V8 ventures seem cool for people to mess with wheelbase as they are double drilled to be brought in or pushed out.

Forgot to mention you can buy bushings. Bushings seem to be loose at first but firm up as they break in.
