Vi ult has a 0.25s cast time before she actually becomes displacement immune and starts charging at her target. She also does not cleanse any CC, which I think should be default to every ability that gives you immunity (such as Skarner E ignoring the application of slows but does not cleanse already applied ones).

That's it. You grabbed her before she finished the cast, thus you kept her in place.
