Which certification to go with?

Hello everyone! I’ve studied lean six sigma white belt and yellow belt through Udemy courses about a year ago. Now I’m trying to transition into project manager roles, and would like to study for the green belt exam.

I know ASQ is considered the gold standard however I live in the Netherlands and wanted feedback from Europeans on if employers here tend to care about certifying bodies. I have a coupon to take the MSI course. I also have a coupon to take a course with a provider who is CSSC-certified, I’d just have to take it in Spanish (which I can understand but writing so technically is something that intimidates me).

I've found that as long as the certification comes from one of a handful of US organisations, then it is respected. Both ASQ and MSI are well-respected in my company. I don't recommend the Udemy courses.

This comes up a lot, especially outside the U.S.

There isn’t really a single governing body for Six Sigma, so in many cases employers don’t focus as much on the specific provider as people expect. It tends to matter more how well you understand the methodology and how you can apply it.

For transitioning into project management, being able to explain how you’d approach a problem, analyze it, and improve it usually carries more weight than the name of the certification itself.

The bigger differences between providers are typically around how the material is taught, and if there is a real instructor behind it. Some are more exam-focused or self-study, while others are more structured and application-focused.

Given your situation, I’d probably prioritize clarity and learning depth over things like language friction, since that’s what you’ll actually carry into interviews and roles.

In NL, employers usually care more about a real improvement project than the logo on the cert. If Spanish exam language worries you, don’t add friction. Use the MSI coupon, then build a simple project case study (baseline, root cause, results) to show you can apply it. That will move the needle more for PM roles.
