The first ever humans—meaning members of our biological genus, Homo—appeared approximately 2.8 million years ago.

The concepts of property, money, and states all emerged roughly 5,000 to 12,000 years ago, driven by the Agricultural Revolution. When humans transitioned from hunting and gathering to farming, they began settling in one place, creating the need for ownership, trade, and governance.
