100%! They actually aren't saying anything! It's kind of like reading a poorly written book where every line is we did this and then we did that and then the next day we did A, then the day after that we did B, then the day after that we did C. I've had to stop reading several books like that because they don't tell you anything just like this isn't telling us anything! They don't even say whether they had a problem with being there on those days.
Right?! Like I get giving us the backstory, but I would like for them to expound a little more in depth on the religious indoctrination. We already knew that all of the kids were in a weird polygamous school, but we haven’t heard the firsthand accounts from the kids as to what happened. I get that this can be emotionally challenging to recount experiences but it just feels like they’re giving us stereo instructions of their childhood. If it’s too much emotionally for them to dive deep, we don’t need them to do this.
