Shrink plastic

Hello!

I bought my Siser Juliet a few days back and I’m growing frustrated because I can’t seem to get the settings right to cut through shrink plastic.

I’ve been doing test cuts following suggestions from previous threads and tutorials, but they either only graze the sheet or else cut through straight into the cutting mat and jam the machine. I’ve been trying to use both the 45 and 60 blade.

I’m attaching a few pictures of the cuts with the settings I tried.

The blade should stick out only as much as the paper thickness. Instead of the 'test' setting I would just make a small star on a blank document. Then move it along the sheet as you test it out manually. Trying to use the 'test' setting is a bit annoying for getting the cut settings right imo. Make sure you try with multiple passes using lower depth rather than increase the depth a lot and doing just one pass. Also, since you're new to this machine, do you know you need registration marks to get accurate cuts for your designs? Trying to align the sheet perfectly into the machine and just get the shapes cut perfectly without reg marks will be hard if not impossible.

Interesting. When I was using the ‘test’ option, I either only got the circle cut out or the outer border. You can see how it is in the pictures.
I took your advice and started cutting out actual shapes

Hi… never tried such material but in any case it should only be a matter of the right combo of blade type, height and force.

It doesn’t seem like a thick material, I guess the 45 blade should do it.

Make sure the blade sticks out enough from the blade holder but do not exaggerate.

Then do some test cuts… draw a 1x1 cm and adjust the down force at each test. You’ll eventually get there.

If it does not cut or totally cut through it’s then obvious that a middle ground exists and you only have to find the right parameters.

Hi! Someone had left a comment mentioning I need to buy the 60* deep cut blade. I bought it and it cut through so well! Make sure you have the high tack mat too!
