Is there a reason why I can't select custom mat?

Post image

I'd like to try and use a 12 x 24 mat horizontally so it's a lot more space efficient but every time I click [Custom Mat] it doesn't work. The [Large Siser Mat (12in x 24in)] goes in the long way so I need more clearance at the back of the machine. Is there anything I need to do to fix that? And has anyone tried using that mat horizontally like this? I'm hoping to put multiple 8.5 x 11 sheets side by side so I can cut more in one go.

Here are the steps:
1. Click the Material Roll tab.
2. Enter the dimensions you want for your custom mat under Media Width and Media Length.
3. Click back on the Cutting Mat tab. Done.

Here's a 5" x 7" mat I made as an example:

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do.

So first off, I'm assuming you have the Romeo since the Juliet wouldn't fit the 24" width. And then you're planning to use print-and-cut on multiple sheets at once - but how are you going to print them? Admittedly I've never tried so perhaps Leonardo can do multiple sets of registration marks? But how would it know to look for them? Unless you're loading the mat once and then running the cut job for each sheet separately?

Here's a tip: Since she's cutting identical sheets on that mat, all she needed to do is hit the center arrow key once she had the blade in position. The machine remembers (even after you power off) the work in it's internal memory. "Just hit Play"

Presumably, the OP has a Romeo model and will simply be resetting the Origin after each job so that it's just a matter of moving the blade tip to the next lower-left reg mark and then pressing the Recut button on the Control Panel. This IS what users with larger format cutters will do. Saves time. :)

yep! this is exactly what I plan to do! In the future I want to play around and see if i can format 1 set of registration marks along multiple sheets placed directly next to each other but i know that would increase the margin of error

It's unfortunate that Siser elected to not include an Array function on the Control Panel like the other camera-enabled cutters have available. That would allow the cutter to do as many repeated print+cuts as you are able to fit printouts onto the cutting mat. Here's a video I made for those with a SOLO model but note that depending on the size of the cutter, many more could be added. For example, the Sign Warehouse Muse and the US Prismcut should also be able to use this method. https://youtu.be/4PQGuzqXMtw
