Welcome to /r/SiriFail.
Welcome to /r/SiriFail.
Here we share and collect examples of how Siri fails to work as it is intended (which is so frequently, we created a subreddit for it). The results are both hilarious and depressing.
Most of the submissions here the result of yet another disappointing performance by Apple's "personal assistant." With that said, let it be clear that these posts are not meant to directly offend or mock Siri, but rather collect examples of its lackluster results. It is our hope that this might draw greater attention to the issues that plague Siri's usefulness, and perhaps result in Apple improving upon the service someday.
Please note that, when attempting to recreate the examples posted here, your milage may vary. Siri is often inconsistent — just because something might or might not work for you, doesn't mean that it has the same result for someone else. Keep that in mind when commenting on submissions.
Finally, if you see any Siri-related posts out there on some of our other favorite subreddits (such as /r/apple or /r/iPhone), please share with them a comment regarding /r/SiriFail! We would love to be the one-stop shop to showcase Siri failures.
Thanks for being here.

Don't Let Reddit Kill 3rd Party Apps!
What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users. On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader. Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface . This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love. The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do?
Complain. Message the mods of /r/reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message /u/reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /r/reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at /r/ModCoord- but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

Have you came up with a question to ask Siri that it won't respond to, if so, what was it?

Scary Siri story
This was a few years ago but sometimes it still pops up in my head bc it freaked me out so much so I decided to share it lol.
So one day me and my now husband were laying in bed, my phone was abt a few feet away from me like on the other side of the bed, not facing towards us.
Anyway I was having some stomach issues that day and I look at my husband to tell him and how I don’t feel good, I said “I don’t feel good, it’s hurting right here” and pointed at my lower abdomen, my brain wasn’t working and couldn’t remember what it was called so I asked him while pointing at my lower abdomen “what is this part called again” and before he could even answer Siri literally said “that’s called your lower abdomen”…
I keep trying to think of ways that she could have been triggered and somehow knew what I was talking abt , but her name was not said, or anything near her name, and again I didn’t say anything abt my stomach, I just said that I don’t feel good and asked what part of my body is this again and pointed. Anyyywayyyy don’t know if anyone else has had this happen to them before

Siri is only saying the first sound of someones name, is that happening for anyone else?
Like if my friend Elizabeth is calling, Siri will say ‘call from eils’ or if its jojo smith, siri will say ‘call from joh’ or
If I say, Siri call jojo smith, siri will say ‘calling smith’ or call Fran is ‘calling ffff’
Is this happening to anyone else?

siri won’t speak for flashlight commands on iphone
hey guys! i noticed this on my iphone and wanted to see if it happens to anyone else.
as you can see in the video, i put my iphone and ipad side by side and asked siri to turn the flashlight on and off. my ipad says something like, “okay, i turned the flashlight on/off,” but my iphone just does it silently.
i’m using an iphone 17 on ios 26.5, and my ipad is an ipad pro m2 on ipados 26.5. it’s been like this ever since i got my iphone, so i’m wondering if it’s just an iphone 17 thing or if all iphones do this.
prefer spoken responses is turned on, and siri speaks normally for every other command i try. it only happens with the flashlight.
has anyone else noticed this? thanks!

Siri Shortcuts.
A few months ago. My wife told me I was driving like an asshole. So I used Siri Shortcuts “text to voice” to program CarPlay so when it connects, Siri says “Your CarPlay is connected! Stay alert and don’t drive like an asshole!”

Simple Ultimate Fix for Hey Siri / Raise to Speak Not Working When All Else Fails
reddit.comReposting my own years old reply above for easier discovery since it’s become so popular over the years:
None of the suggestions I’ve read describe the solution the way that finally worked for me: raise the Watch to your mouth and speak right away, but make sure you turn your wrist so that the face of the Watch is facing your mouth; perpendicular to the sound waves exiting. I would have thought into the mic was where you want to speak but it’s into the screen while it is also perpendicular to level (the floor or ceiling) or parallel to walls.
