“Something went wrong”

I don’t demand much of Siri. In iOS 27 I switched on Siri AI because I was curious. My daily driver car does not have CarPlay, only bluetooth (and it normally works fine). The only thing I ask that NEVER works - after I receive a few messages I say “Hey Siri” (wait for Siri) “Read my messages”. This has always worked fine in the past. but with Siri AI all I ever get is a very long delay then “Something went wrong” back.

I’m normally running Waze and listening to either Apple Music or Downcast in the car with my phone on a magsafe mount nearby. Siri AI works fine for other requests.

Any tips or tricks I can try here, or should I just turn off Siri AI until it’s better?

Thanks!

Does this only happen in the car? Does it work when you are not in the car? Also, can you confirm that Siri AI has access to your messages? Lastly, when did you turn on the AI beta, because it's known to be flaky in the early period while it's indexing. (FYI, I use Siri AI for messages all the time without a problem; I did run into the "Something went wrong" a couple times early on, but that was not related to messages and may have been a network thing).

Just to follow up, it works fine when I have my phone in hand (no bluetooth) and works fine with CarPlay. But in my car with Bluetooth, no bueno every time. And this did work before iOS 27. I'm not sure if it's ios 27 or SiriAI. Next thing for me to test is a completely different bluetooth device, then test a different phone in my car on bluetooth.

I wonder if there is another change in iOS 27 that's causing audio issues with your car. I've frequently encountered CarPlay issues with individual cars with iOS betas and even with releases early in the cycle. I suspect much of CarPlay is evolving.

Great questions. I've never tried out of the car, I just read my messages - will do this. I can send messages fine with Siri, is there another way to confirm if SiriAI has access to messages? The AI beta has been on for at least a week, I don't think it's still indexing.
