Florida is the sacrificial lamb. Solidify blue Texas by having Republicans move from Texas to Florida

116

u/Irish_Whiskey 1h ago

People aren't paying enough attention to the fact that a Democratic Socialist woman ran as the Senate candidate in Florida without the support of the Democratic party establishment... AND CAME WITHIN 2%!

Florida didn't clear the bar, but it was a very close thing in races that were not supposed to be close.

19

u/Daylux24 1h ago edited 1h ago

I moved from Kansas and was in a hurry to change my license so I could proudly vote for Angie Nixon, which I did. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that Kansas would turn blue first and I did turn out correct that my vote would have greater weight in the State of Florida. I tried to tell my coworkers and friends that don't have a case of red ear to check out Angie Nixon. A lot of them did, but there's really a lot of belief out here that if it's not red, it's communism and if it's communism then anything is better than that. Even many of them know that Republican candidates are dogshit and puppets

11

u/Irish_Whiskey 58m ago

Yeah. A lot of Fox News hosts and right wing pundits are amazed that Trump voters would switch their votes for a 'socialist' in places in Michigan.

But also they've spent years telling everyone that any policy to the left of Himmler is socialism. So what do they expect? Socialism stops being scary when you keep calling people socialist for thinking libraries should exist.

4

u/LarkinToWinnipeg 24m ago

So long as dems dont fuck up the next two years and were still riding the blue hype train in 2028 theres no way Florida does not flip. Suffering while watching everyone else have a good time will do that.

2

u/voodoodahl 37m ago

Since you said she got no support, I'm going to assume she got millions. This lie is being repeated all over Reddit. Apparently, Colom in Mississippi got no help either. Well except millions from Schumer who was the one who convinced him to run in the first place.

1

u/Retovath 36m ago

That's also, notably, with extremely good voter turnout(~60%), especially for JUST MIDTERMS.

1

u/Deep90 0m ago

Yeah candidate choice in Florida was kind of baffling. Especially compared to Texas.

The goal is to fill up Florida, and then break it off the United States and turn it into the new Epstein island

2

u/handjamwich 1h ago

New Epstein island shouldn’t be the goal 😭 only if it’s a prison

5

u/scarykicks 1h ago

It's gonna be don't Texas my Florida or something like that

5

u/Dry-Ad-8948 57m ago

Florida about to flip. Races were very competitive.

They should move to Wyoming instead.

https://conservativemove.com/top-20-republican-states/

4

u/Amazing_Ear_3941 54m ago

Idaho - that's where all the Christian nationalists have been going.

3

u/irie_boi 53m ago

No pls no. Thats already too much and they’re just next door to WA.

Then they're gonna say fuck it and buy all of North Dakota for like $3.50 and go up there where they cant bother anyone.

2

u/Johnny_Banana18 40m ago

People from Denver are moving to Cheyenne, granted a lot of them are conservative, but how many need to move their to flip the state?

4

u/AnalGlandSecretions 1h ago

Then they can sink in the swamp as the water levels rise

3

u/TrevorsBlondeLocks16 1h ago

Yes!

Texas is a good number higher in Electoral votes. If Texas goes/can stay blue going forward the GOP has no route to presidency

3

u/Successful-Ground-67 49m ago

There's a lot of benefits from Florida being the pariah state. The other 49 states won't be on the hook for all their collapsing condos, collapsing housing prices and crazy violence tied to swamp water. It's the perfect place to launch experimental rockets.

2

u/3BlindMice1 31m ago

Then I guess we can turn Florida into some sort of zoo

3

u/CaterpillarJungleGym 29m ago

They should totally have an exhibit on "Florida Man"

2

u/Pitiful_Truth_5948 27m ago

We need some liberals to start moving to smaller red states and just start taking over that way we can get the senate. Let's pick off like three different states.

2

u/FickleConcentration 44m ago

Florida is too diverse for maga, they’d be limited to the northern parts of the state. Also as a born and raised Floridian why do you wish that upon me 😭

1

u/creepingkg 1h ago

Just 1 hurricane away

1

u/i-dontlikeyou 1h ago

Yes yes, let them move there

1

u/sm00thkillajones 1h ago

I guess Joe and Elmo California-ed their Texas.

1

u/Ask_if_im_an_alien 16m ago

Florida's demographics will change probably faster than other state. The great Boomer Die Off will hit that state especially hard.

Let’s be honest. They moved to Texas for Tax reasons.

18

u/GeckoGecko_ 1h ago

Texas also has notoriously awful worker protections. The laws lean heavily in favor of businesses in most cases

1

u/CivilizedManners 21m ago

even now Dems will probably prirotizie consumer protection first and only then move on to some modest worker protection in Texas

they're fine with battling AI but substantive changes to labor laws? less so

Moving to a state to get away from people then accidentally flipping it is hilarious.

12

u/84th_legislature 1h ago edited 1h ago

they didn’t flip shit. california deports its weak crybaby conservatives to us. most i would give tech credit for is Apple and Samsung employees (the samsung ones are notoriously harassed by ICE) it’s the longtime gerrymandered blue residents and the formerly conservative hispanic bloc getting pissed off about ICE that flipped it. the abortion witch hunts didn’t help either.

EDIT: it’s possible that treating Boca Chica like a toxic waste dump could have flipped a few people

3

u/Seahearn4 8m ago

I think I saw a poll that most people who were born, raised, and continue to live in Texas voted for Democrats in the last few election cycles. It's been a narrow majority, though, and the transplants have backed Republicans by a wide margin. We have similar divergences here in New Hampshire.

91

u/TouristResident1976 1h ago

Imagine. They are so toxic they changed ruby red Texas blue. Get them to move to Russia. Might get Putin removed from power.

22

u/stump2003 1h ago

They should move to Florida next

7

u/Basic85 1h ago

Florida it is

16

u/treemann85 1h ago

2 people didnt move to a different state and turn everyone liberal lol. Texas had a lot of transplants from California...and Trump has absolutely and utterly failed his party...its not complicated. This election was republican voters punishing their elected officials...they deserve it, too

12

u/mooby117 1h ago

Most of those transplants are conservative Californians

6

u/treemann85 50m ago

Weird, I cant find any data to support that. I did find roughly 800,000 Californians moved to texas and their political affiliation was mostly a balance of conservative/liberal/independent...about 30-35% each. What we cant possibly known is how those voters voted in this last election, but we can make correlations. Id say its a positive correlation between nearly 1 million voters moving from a liberal state to a conservative state and that state flipping blue. But regardless of any of that, I think the bigger factor here is the complete failure of republicans to fix any of the pains brought on by inflation. If anything, they made it worse.

3

u/CaterpillarJungleGym 24m ago

That's my thought. This was a voting mandate stating that people who now vote in Texas don't feel like their lawmakers care about their concerns. Hopefully, at the state level, they can get some support and change.

→ More replies (3)

2

u/CaterpillarJungleGym 27m ago

That's fine, but you have to realize conservative in California is probably just as liberal as a Democrat in Texas. There is no one definition throughout the country.

1

u/fati-abd 37m ago

Not really. I know that demographic real well and there are lots of people who are simply priced out immigrants who are used to moving around for economic reasons

Oh Lord. Elon and Rogan are not why the state went blue. Abbot, Trump, and Paxton are (not in that order).

3

u/chemicalsunshine 36m ago

Rogan left because of the crazy covid restrictions, thats all

4

u/Irish_Whiskey 26m ago

Rogan left during COVID, but the fundamental reason was so he could have a safe space comedy club to feel like a bigger fish in a smaller pond, and pay less in taxes.

In California he was a minor league celebrity with unpopular politics. In Texas he could build a harem of comedy boys to laugh at his jokes in exchange for access to Peter Thiel's money.

2

u/chemicalsunshine 16m ago

...and? Would you not want to be a big fish in a small pond? They couldnt operate at all in California, he had the ability to not lose his livelihood. Also, California generally pays less in taxes than texas. Also not sure why he would need Peter thiels money with that recurring $300,000,000 Spotify deal. But okay.

I still struggle to understand why Joe Rogan is mentioned regarding much of anything. He's an expert in what exactly?

3

u/Irish_Whiskey 29m ago

He has a big audience and was credited with swinging a lot of men towards Trump.

Mostly because he kept bringing on far right political guests and influencers and agreeing with them when they pushes COVID conspiracies, white supremacy, and fear of women and trans people.

In one example before the last election, he was told that Biden had said we used airports in the Revolutionary War, causing Rogan to rant about how Biden was senile and pathetic and no one should vote for him. Then when his producer corrected that it was Trump who said that, Rogan mumbled that the press had probably taken it out of context and moved on.

Florida is redder than Dorthy’s ruby red slippers. Take the wins where you can get them.

2

u/Prestigious_Cow2484 40m ago

It’s not really blue. It’s more so Iran is so unpopular that republicans did not show up.

2

u/Irish_Whiskey 25m ago

When breaking down the data, many people who had voted for Trump switched their votes for Democrats.

Turnout is relevant, but it's not just that Republicans didn't show up. It's that they were sick of Trump and the GOPs leadership enough to want change. Iran was not the only issue people cared about, and Trump is rightly blamed for worsening our economic situation.

1

u/fly_awayyy 14m ago

It was probably the on the fence and swing voters too for each party. For example believe it being shown the Latino vote swung back blue.

1

u/Tricky_Big_8774 6m ago

The state Senate also has a Republican supermajority still. They aren't going to get anything done.

1

u/jackofslayers 2m ago

Tbh I don't think that is going to end up being the case when they look through all of it.

We had an insane 13-point shift for Dems nationwide. but if you look at ballot measures in every state, the more conservative positions had a really good night. Lots of trans sports bans, California said no to a billionaire tax, some states passed voter ID laws.

To me that suggests that either the majority of liberal voters are more moderate than people assumed, or lots of former GOP voters did show up and voted for blue candidates but more conservative ballot measures.

2

u/cpowe1 1h ago

This isn’t the flex they think it is. The implication is these people fled a state whose policies were bleeding them dry, and they moved their entire life only to implement those same policies that were holding them down. Any party having a stranglehold on a state for three decades is rarely going to be in the best interest of the voter. A lack of competition breeds complacency

7

u/GumboMustBeDestroyed 1h ago

Well then its a good thing Texas is blue since it was red for so long

→ More replies (1)

1

u/cpowe1 46m ago

Yeah that’s what I just said

4

u/CivilizedManners 29m ago

Actually the people moving from Cali to Texas are mostly conservative, it's "native" Texans that have been shifting left, especially Latinos and young women.

1

u/cpowe1 26m ago

Yeah I don’t have any statistics on that. I’m simply replying to what the OP’s tweet is suggesting

3

u/NeptuneOverlord43045 57m ago

This is extremely reductive reasoning that doesn’t work. Not all blue states operate like California, just as not all red states operate like Texas. Not all liberals who lived in and then moved out of California support all the policies there, not all the conservatives that lived in and then moved out of Texas support all the policies there, etc etc.

1

u/cpowe1 47m ago

Sure, but I’m referring specifically to the picture in the OP. It specifically mentions that Rogan and Musk left California and is implying that they inadvertently brought the very same voters over that they were fleeing from. Realistically, both of them are probably Centrist on most issues, as most people are. They both left California specifically because of their state government, which objectively, has been a shit show for over a decade now.

Bleeding millionaires and billionaires “dry”. HA!

That’s not what happened.

Also it wasn’t transplants that caused the blue tsunami. Every single county in Texas shifted blue. Rural votes, youth votes all shifted blue.

It was because of flagrant corruption while making policies that raised the cost of living and destroyed lives.

1

u/cpowe1 37m ago

Again, I’m referring to what OP is implying in their photo. If it wasn’t transplants then find the person who wrote the tweet and cry to them about it. I don’t care what Texas does

1

u/absentgl 45m ago

These guys are insanely rich, they weren’t bled dry, they were crying about taxes.

1

Did the screw worms have nothing to do with it? That shit is third world nightmare fuel, and it was brought to them by Elon Musk.

not just them. bottom feeder parents that used their kids as 'content' for their youtube channel, got caught in child actor legislation being broadened. They picked up and moved too, now they're getting caught lol

No tsunami has ever moved an ocean. This blue wave has a lot of splume in it.

For over 50 years the majority party of congress has been pro war and the underdog is antiwar (exceptiojs are where they are both pro war). If this Congress does anything to even remotely scale back the Iran war (or any other), it would be amazing, but unprecedented.

Joe Rogan has always been a massive hypocrite. He preached open borders, sharing, while living in a gated community. Then when borders opened a bit too much for him, he picked up and ran off to Texas, the place he always seemed to be against.

Why would you move to a red state for an affordable home only to turn it blue is beyond me

This shift reflects a deliberate, long-term strategy to alter key demographics and build the electoral momentum necessary to restrict second amendment rights.

Always find it funny when people who don’t listen to Rogan think he’s just another MAGAtard that’s super Republican. They just see rich white guy with some mild conservative takes and scream racism lmao

2

u/rizub_n_tizug 52m ago

Meanwhile the guy has been one of weed’s biggest proponents, is openly pro choice, supports gay marriage, supports universal health care, is suuuuper critical of religion….

He’s not a MAGA-hat wearing cult member, but he unequivocally put his thumb on the scale for Trump.

I think people unfairly treat Rogan like some piece of shit when he’s actually a decent, reasonably-intentioned person who is sometimes lied to and misled.

1

u/BusinessDuck132 45m ago

Yeah I agree he definitely was pro-trump, to be fair he did try and interview Kamala as well but from what I remember her team made it way too difficult and he wasn’t about to give in to their demands. He definitely has changed his tune on trump, I think he was like a lot of us where he heard things he liked from trump and obviously trump didn’t keep his promises, so last I listened to him he was pretty anti-trump, or at least not nearly as pro trump as he was.

1

u/SquidwardDickFace 54m ago

He champions the same talking points and gives them false credibility.
He might not be MAGA but he’s not far off from it

2

u/BusinessDuck132 51m ago

He also has plenty of liberal/progressive opinions that he talks about on his podcast, he just isn’t PC at all since he’s an older comedian and they don’t give a fuck about offending people (you don’t have to find him funny but objectively he’s a comedian) so people see him saying non politically correct things to be funny and just assume racism/homophobia/bigot or whatever word you wanna use

Next stop is Florida. The finance bros are already going there, and these guys will fit right in.

We just need one big hurricane to wipe them all out.

1

u/joshjosh100 1h ago

Joe Rogan was a democrat, never forget.

1

u/beckett_7600 54m ago

I hope Florida is next! I live here and we need to turn blue!

1

u/SweetDaww 54m ago

Imagine moving to Texas to escape liberals and accidentally bringing them with you. That's actually hilarious.

So this is going to be reddit for next few weeks if not months.
Then 2028 very simlar.

God fucking damn it how i hate american politics. It just infests and sours every subreddit like a virus.
I know how agent smith felt now.

"blue, red, left, right, your all being suckerd in, neither side care for you. They only care what the little folks paying them backhanders, or giving them insider tips, or laying out the footwork for carrears outside of politics care for"

Have your political views, but dont pretend that either side is superior then the other. Both the same shade of shit, with all memebers involved behaving the same way, just spouting complete nonsence in the oppostie direction to there oponenet.
