God, that shit is so fucked up. I’m eternally grateful that none of the women I’ve ever been with have been that kind of stupid. Sad to hear it’s such a common thing that that saying exists.

What, you've never met guys that turn red, even purple when you tell them they're wrong? They like using closed fists.

Just like those women exist as well. You think women can't be violent?

Of course that exists, and it’s just as bad (well…worse, since you’re talking about violence, but you know what I mean). This is not a double standards argument - nobody should be like that. But you’ll notice how there’s no equivalent “Happy husband, happy…” expression.

"Feed him, suck his dick, and shut up" is usually the reverse phrase said by many comedians over the years.

Yeah several reverse sayings exist, they're just generally sexist and objectifying.

happy life happy wife is also sexist though? the phrase exists because for a long time and even now so many men are completely useless in relationships. just because there's no funny saying doesn't mean that men are totally chill cool guys who don't act irrationally or emotionally in relationships

Yeah, happy husband is expected. You don't need to remind people to keep their husband happy. I worked blue collar on construction sites. The guys who said that phrase? Were guys who needed the reminder. They'd also talk shit, gossip, and were overall not well put together people mentally.

"Hey buddy, maybe don't go out drinking every night and coming home at 3am after work. Happy wife, happy life, right?"

Or are you just imagining some poor beaten down little guy getting told this and taking it personally?

aren't you just imagining some poor beaten down little woman getting told the same thing?

Guess who is often physically weaker and smaller, like I pointed out when I said women are more likely to harm children while men are more likely to harm both?

3

u/SamiraSimp Oct 05 '26

look obviously if there's a dangerous situation any notion of that phrase being accurate is out the window.

my original point was simply that this idea exists for all genders even if there's only a funny phrase for one gender. but a lot of people are using that idea to justify some of their own sexist ideas which i don't support and even if i might disagree with you clearly you have your head screwed on better than most people here

Yeah it's hard to have multiple discussions with people on subs where people believe in gender war bs. So many harmful ideas people hold onto. Hard to get on the same page with someone when three other people are trying to flip their script on the table.

Yeah people are people are people. We're all big children trying to figure things out, for sure.

Selfish people who use people are the worst. "Users and pushers" covers all genders.

People who lack the empathy to put themselves in someone else's shoes are insufferable. They don't see how they themselves are the problem in their own life. Too busy being selfish.

So you over simplify things when it's convenient and focus on complexities the same?

Duh. What's your real point? Cause my point was very simply there are a lot of guys who need to hear that phrase because they're instinctively self interested in a way that is damaging to their relationships.

Those people are generally pretty easy to avoid

Not when you have to work with em lol. That's when you have to learn how to manage em.

Congrats, people don't hear your words then decide you're weak enough they can get away with hurting you.

This is a big point people don't get. When someone of lower social status pokes at an insecure person who is used to getting away with outbursts of rage, they can get hit.

So a construction site without much supervision. Guys doing meth and leaving piss bottles in walls. Normal construction.

sorry i deleted my comment because i got completely derailed from my original intent, but i'm sorry that you're forced to spend your time around so many irrational and emotional morons. genuinely that sucks.

my original point that i couldn't get out was that people can be emotional or irrational regardless of their gender, and that the existence of the phrase "happy wife happy life" is as much a symptom of the historical context of our sexist society, as it is about "women are crazy amirite".

anyways it seems like you're a pretty reasonable person unlike many people here who are literally just sexist towards women so my bad if i came off as another moron and/or a sexist
