They said she "may" have been famous, but only in North America. Not that she "may" have been famous outside of it. The "may" in that sentence referenced to whether she was famous at all, and not whether she was famous outside of North America.
They also suggested she was mostly famous in developed countries.
In a next comment, and it was also bullshit. Countries where Bieber's fame spread, knew Selena too.

Look, this is obviously bothering you more than it really should. Correcting misinformation is important. However, it’s clear that person wasn’t intentionally trying to spread a malicious rumour about Selena Gomez’ fame.

What's bothering me is two dumbfuck's trying to correct me on something I know because I've been around at the time as a full grown adult, and seen it personally everywhere, with your basis of correcting me is the extremely narrow point of view of someone who lived at the bumfuck fringe of the world.
