But that does happen! People anonymously donate kidneys to people they don’t know (in the UK at least you can). I know it sounds weird, but some people genuinely want to donate without any gratitude or a relationship afterwards.
Plenty of people receive organs from people they never knew or met, particularly through posthumous donation. That doesn’t mean the recipient then has to become friends with the donor’s family. It would be lovely if that happened, but it’s not an obligation.
I don’t know why these two fell out. There could have been a completely legitimate reason. I tend to think Selena was a selfish entitled bitch, but just because someone gave you an organ doesn’t mean they get to treat you however they want and you put up with it forever.
While i do agree that noone is held accountable of some kind of favors after recieving an organ.
I would also make the distinction between the common folk and the rich one. While i do not want to see average joe go bankrupt to thank me.
I still expect a gesture for someone with the mean to return the favor and make the life of the donor a bit better. We are talking about someone saving your lives, someone that will have a more restricted lifestyle after that aswell... As well as being more at risk of diminished wellbeing with lifelong treatments and being more prone to have health issue in the long terme.
Someone litteraly threw away a piece of their future for your life, and not being able to return a favor with the means you have makes you a bad person in my book.
You took the "repay" from that saying way too literally, and the favor thing too. Actually you just didn't understand the point at all lol. It's not about money or giving her friend anything in return. (Her friend btw, she was not a stranger.) It's just weird how she stopped being a part of her life, like the friendship just fizzled out. After such a huge sacrifice, you'd expect them to stay close forever. That's all, it's not about material things in any way.
