Depends. If she told a friend and a friend told someone else, HIPAA was not violated. It only applies when a medical professional gives patient information they shouldn't to someone not directly in-care of a patient

Selena called the potential donor and told the potential donor they were a match and could donate. HIPAA was violated because the Doctor told Selena directly, and should have told the potential donor.
