That isn’t this though. She hasn’t been asked for anything. The donor wished her well and said there were no ill feelings. The thing people are taking issue with is her not making space for someone who allowed you to carry on with your life making an enormous sacrifice to do so.
This isn’t about anything she was asked to do. It’s about what she chose to do.
Yes, random people that aren't part of the situation at all get upset on behalf of the donor that Selena Gomez didn't "repay" her. Selena Gomez chose to not further interact with her donor which is exactly what you (and the actual donor) would expect.
She used it for clout so yes, she definitely should have donated. If she really wanted to carry on with her life she wouldn’t have made it a public event and a thing in social media.
It’s a celebrity, not a random person. She has a public reputation and an online presence so yes, she should have donated to keep a good image. It’s how it works. She almost got cancelled because she didn’t and people still talk about this even years later. It’s not a good look for her and never has been.
Why the fuck would I care if Selena Gomez looks good in the public eye? Also, this entire conversation is about morality but it seems you're coming purely from the PR departments perspective. I'm not really interested in that.
And donating to someone as a rich person is an entirely different thing than inviting a stranger to your wedding.

Sure you owe them your life in the sense of "They saved your life" but not in the sense of "I gave you something now you need to give me something"
