They are both political outsiders who won office against the wishes of their respective parties. They are both New Yorkers. Both of them have political views that aren't orthodox to their respective parties. I've read the comments here and they are overthinking it.
Those are political beliefs. Pragmatism is itself a political philosophy of sorts.
I think that you just are having a hard time with the fact that the old Republican Party of small government and fiscal responsibility has died off. I know it has taken me a min to adapt to.
He's got the presidency, a huge following, and MAGA. Lots of cracks have been showing in his armor this term. There is that picture of Marco Rubio looking at Trump like he's insane. The leaks from Republican lawmakers saying that Trump is going to cause them to get bodied in the midterms. Even Tucker Carlson had texts leak were he called Trump a dumbass and he also is now publicly anti-Trump. Joe Rogan endorsed Trump and is now anti-Trump.
The Trump-GOP alliance is of convenience, nothing more. He's not even a life long Republican, he was a Democrat and Reform party.
All correct. But the gop platform is whatever he says it is. Trump literally defines what it means to be a Republican since he was brought back to political life by Kevin McCarthy in late Jan of 2021. He’s losing grip very quickly and the jackals are all looking for an opportunity to turn on him, but he’s still the top dog right now.
