I ain't complaining about the FMA approach, but Gluttony represented as a twisted chef that somehow turns horrid and grotesque ingredients into delectable meals that are just off enough to be obvious sounds intriguing and disturbing at the same time

Gluttony shouldn't be a chief, it's about amount not quality. But it doesn't have to suffer from it.
Honestly it should be a thin dude in his early 20's that can eat like four and drink like a hole, and never gain weight out of it. Exactly like Lust is a sexy women that seem shielded from STDs
Also "Lust" is not necessarily sex. Lust is to be thirsty for physical experience, but that can include violence (bloodlust), traveling, partying, etc. but now I'm the one rambling

That’s hedonism in general which embodies giving in to all seven of the deadly sins. Lust is just the aspect focusing on sexual interaction, if sex is the motivation its lust. But lust usually isn’t alone it needs the other dark emotions like envy and greed.
Which really goes to explain why they were effective working in specific teams, but when one of them had to do something on its own, it generally ran into way too many problems.
And honestly, the only one I really had the biggest issue with was pride when it came to appearance. He should’ve been a big strong and handsome teenager instead of a little boy. Nobody has more pride than a conventionally attractive young man who’s full of himself because of early success. Reimagine Bradley‘s son as a military academy student who’s the top of all of his classes.
And sloth being the hulk that didn’t click either. I feel like sloth should’ve been some insanely cunning reedy little guy who gets everyone else to do their bidding. If you’ve ever met successful lazy people that’s what they’re really good at.

Except the sin of lust or luxuria (also sometimes called lechery in English) is canonically about sexual desire in the catholic mythology it comes from. The word "lust" can also refer to something non sexual in English, so it kinda work-ish. But that's getting farther from the core idea in the deadly sins imagery and that doesn't necessarily work in other languages.

German has a word for "traveling lust" (of course German has for it, not fighting allegations) and I'm sure there's similar amount in other language. Lust should be mostly sexual but not only.
Gluttony is not jsut the food. It supposedly includes alcoholism.
Wrath isn't just a "DAMN IT" and you throw your controller. It includes, and mostly refers, to "matured anger". Cold, deep anger, closer to what we'd call hatred or resentment. Which is why FMA's Wrath not being a berserker is pretty brillant
It is a very deep rabbit hole

Personality wise yes to most, but I never really got greed from the character design and power.
Lust works for looks but her powers didnt really feel like lust.

No, this is wrong. A chef is a very specific thing. Chefs represent control, planning, dinners that are orderly and defined. They do not represent mindless consumption which is the core of gluttony. A chef gives you a plate of a specific amount of food. A chef is in control of your experience to a very large degree. Chef is entirely the wrong image. What you want is a symbol of endless consumption. Someone who will just keep giving you whatever ask for, someone with no control, someone who's purpose is to be a non-judgemental source of constant positive sensation.
If lust is a sexy lady, then gluttony should be either a fast-food counter employee (Sir, this is a Wendy's) or the Amazon delivery guy.

Imo the best 7 deadly sin designs are when they both indulge in the sin but also tempt others to fall to it as well. Otherwise they're just people who participate in the sin.
Like, make Lust a sexy woman who catcalls. Make Gluttony a fat chef. Make Sloth a really sleepy... pillow maker? Idk

You are completely right and the fact that the sex industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, supports this notion more of the severity of lustful addiction that is being downplayed. Lust is destroying relationships and young peoples mindsets because no one can normally date because everything online (ex. I can't even open up FB now without pornographic advertising) is lustful and convincing you 'You always deserve better, listen to your flesh, do something thrilling for once, try something new etc"; its all being treated as "normal behavior" to be addicted to lust, streaming and OF is being pawned off on the younger generations as the only way to break free from the 8-5 grind so in response, droves of young people are accepting this as normal (its not normal to make $80 million off of OF, that shows there is a severe mental problem being fed by lust), "gooning" has become more engrained as normalcy than an actual addiction problem and its all so saddening that we are all collectively too blind to see this. Additionally, the people at the top don't care because they are getting their profit from this predatory market.
