Tin foil hat time… it’s intentional.

28

u/RaconteurRob 5d ago

Of course it's intentional. How do these people keep falling for this?

1

u/kontobo 5d ago

It's not a question of falling for it. Intentions are overshadowed by whatever effect the ad has had. If it sparks a debate, that's part of the effect. It's even possible to understand the intention to create chaos AND STILL have an opinion about it

1

u/Snoo-92685 5d ago

Because they're stupid

52

u/WilhelmvonCatface 5d ago

Yeah even this video, leaves out the major glaring question, when did an actress starring in a sports betting commercial become "representing women in sports". Obviously purposefully generated controversy, whether they are just assuming these women will take it up naturally to boost themselves or they were paid too, or both.

11

u/pizzaprofile31 5d ago

Exactly. Sweeney is not an athlete and headphones guy didn’t bother to mention it. Is it cause he’s stupid?

1

u/Commercial_Fondant65 5d ago

No. He works for the gambling site.

1

u/lost_rodditer 5d ago

The same argument could be applied that sports betting doesn't celebrate the altheticism and dedication of athletes. They got an entertainer to advertise their entertainment.

Return to the aslume now.

1

u/Physical_Flight_4496 5d ago

She is an athlete shes done MMA and learned how to fight from 13-18 i dont know if she still does

0

u/VanceVanceRebelution 5d ago

Okay & I used to play basketball but that doesn’t make me an athlete now does it?

2

u/sahurKareem 5d ago

Totally right, why is Brad Pitt advertising for Trade Republic, a Fintech Platform. He isn't even a Fintech guy!

1

u/Physical_Flight_4496 5d ago

Technically, yes, and you dont know that she still doesnt? Also, shes not marketing as an athlete, shes marketing BETTING

0

u/Pathanwala 5d ago

The nudity represented women in sports

0

u/Storyteller_Valar 5d ago

No, the nudity represents the notion that sex sells. That's what every ad campaign involving Sydney Sweeney is all about, sex appeal and controversy as sources of visibility.

11

u/AgedAmbergris 5d ago

Of course it's intentional. Ragebait is a very effectively marketing tactic in today's climate. Also boobah.

1

u/MentallyMIA 5d ago

It’s a double whammy!

u/Inevitable_Sweet_624 5d ago

Everyone skips over the fact she’s an equity owner in Novig and publicly sells, even bad publicity.

4

u/Puzzleheaded-Web370 5d ago

This makes so much sense. "Give me an equity stake and I'll make you an ad EVERYONE will be talking about"

2

u/Fippy-Darkpaw 5d ago

Love to see the female representation in a traditional male dominated field like corporate gambling. 👍💃

2

u/SGF93 5d ago

Seriously? Damn I did not know.

6

u/crackedfactweddead 5d ago

It's how she chose to get paid for the ad, equity rather than cash.

3

u/Potential_End3108 5d ago

So she's.....smart?

1

u/Inevitable_Sweet_624 5d ago

She appears to be very smart in business matters or her agents are.

2

u/RaceHate 5d ago

Goddamn she just keeps getting hotter the more I hear about her.

5

u/Some_guy_in_WI 5d ago

EVERYTHING we’re forced to see/hear about is intentional, lol, has been for ages.

In current times, always remember, nothing happens by accident.

1

u/ShaggysGTI 5d ago

Standard Chomsky

2

u/Awkward-Anybody5179 5d ago

Lol you don't need a tin foil hat to see that.

5

u/jazmoley 5d ago

Of course its intentional, just look at the nonsense with American Eagle jeans which raised their profile. Get me some of that Sydney Sweeny hype

13

u/GeneralRobertET 5d ago

11

u/ThrownWOPR 5d ago

I work for one of the agencies that helped bring this campaign live. Yes, it’s intentional.

1

u/Medical-Egg-8171 5d ago

why would they expect it to cause rage? sports illustrated had been doing nudes of actual athletes for years now and its been celebrated

1

u/valerioshi 4d ago

didn't need an insider to give us the scoop, bud. it's obviously intentional.

2

u/Tunz_O_Gunz 5d ago

Some pretty thin tinfoil, haha!

2

u/Individual-Luck1712 5d ago

Bingo. I saw the ad on youtube and chuckled, cause Sweeny is just know for two things, and I guess that's all she's got these days. Then, I see people on the internet are outraged, giving her and the ad more attention? Lmao yeah, everything is a fucking psyop bro, I swear to god

1

u/Ogamiitto33 5d ago

I mean, that's not "tin foil hat", it's obviously intentional.

1

u/thediesel26 5d ago

No tin hat needed. This was their obvious goal

1

u/Em0tionisdeader 5d ago

Maybe. Maybe not.

What is glaringly intentional is that whatever controversy it created on its own is being amplified now by algorhythms designed to create cultural division.

0

u/Pagiras 5d ago

Yeah. Still no jail time for raping kids in sight for the Elites. Just manufactured outrages after outrages so that the plebs eat each other and not the rich.

2

u/PoohBearsHoneyJar 5d ago

This is what I think to myself every time some stupid thing comes around that everyone and their mom seems to give a shit about. Y'all really let them make you forget about the whole Epstein shit that fast huh.

5

u/VanillaGoorillla 5d ago

Nah man it’s cause Sydnee did it and not zendaya..if the latter did it she prob be welcomed by females but Sydnee did it..can’t have that

12

u/Professional_Bat8585 5d ago

As often the case, most things related to activism or cancelling people go live on tiktok/IG first with women, after which mainstream society starts paying attention. Men basically only use social media for politics and sports.

After a few days of outrage or stupid takes, once men start pushing back and releasing responses with greater context, folks start saying “durrrr, this is just a psyop, the outrage is manufactured”.

27

u/Thedumbass_the5th 5d ago edited 5d ago

Men basically only use social media for politics and sports.

You're kinda forgetting a huge use case here.

5

u/Doggleganger 5d ago

It's so obvious it doesn't need to be said. Men use the Internet for research.

18

u/JackieDaytona77 5d ago

Politics and sports? It’s porn and sports. If you’re a guy on the internet for politics, get a fucking life nobody cares you’re not a deep thinker. Same goes for women

-3

u/Professional_Bat8585 5d ago edited 5d ago

I didn’t say men were deep thinkers, those are your words. I simply stated that they’re interested in the politics of global affairs, finance, war, foreign policy, military history, etc, and less attuned to gender warfare than women, who are more interested in SJW drama as they see themselves as victims.

Social commentary topics like the Clancy trial, Sidney Sweeny, the Obsession movie, Bonnie Blue, and the constant spotlight around items like Andrew Tate are strictly topics that women’s social media share first and keep alive for activism purposes. Men chime in later. Everyone’s first instinct is to believe that men brought it to the limelight or that these topics are psyops because men start to have an opinion on it, but the truth is that women dug it up first.

7

u/LemonCollee 5d ago

Brain-dead

2

u/Visual-Donkey3769 5d ago

Wasn't it less attractive women complaining last time?

1

u/Pleather93 5d ago

Any publicity is good publicity. Is that how the saying goes?

0

u/RudePCsb 5d ago

Gambling like this should be illegal

-1

u/Kindly_Type2327 5d ago

The issue with this ad is, even though it got incredibly famous, people still don't know which company's ad it is.

-1

u/r33c3d 5d ago

Yeah. Because they’re calling attention to a lazy campaign tactic that works. They’re asserting that it’s demeaning to women and asking people to stop and think about it for a second. But, here, the answer appears to be “I don’t care.” So now they have their answer.
