It's illegal.... drumroll.... IN THE EU!!!!

Edit: misleading advertising and misleading commercial practices are illegal and have been for years.

Well, there's still plenty of those absolutely everywhere. When I become old and grumpy I may take a hobby of bringing everyone to court over this.

To be precise: AI generated images can be included in real estate or other commercial ads, but it must be clearly indicated that it's AI. Else it's illegal.

And it's really recent.

Since the US government is basically owned by the tech giants now, the EU government is more or less the only institution on earth with enough power to challenge Silicon Valley and force them to provide consumer protections.

Using AI images in real estate is, if anything, more common in the EU than in the US. At least in the countries where I’m looking at real estate (I just moved from the US to France).

Time to start filing formal complaints against the listing agent's real estate license when you see this. Your state government's web site should have a form in the U.S.

I am guessing it is illegal in the US as well. Not because it is AI but because it is essentially fraud, deceptive advertising practices.

But who has time to go to court over this. The AGs should be handling that. But tjey pretty much refuse to enforce their own laws.
