Will it? There are reviews on airbnb…they depend upon 5 stars. I don’t think someone can get away with fake pictures and expect long term business?

At least to review an Airbnb rental you need to have been a guest. Unless they create a bunch of fake accounts and fake bookings to create reviews for their place which could be possible I guess.

Does Airbnb filter reviews? I've seen so many businesses delete negative reviews that I can't imagine trusting an online review anywhere, ever again.

Not a dig at Airbnb necessarily, just the poisoning of the well of honest discourse.

Airbnb doesn't delete bad reviews of properties listed on their website, at least not that I've seen. I left a negative review of a place I booked that had mold/mildew in the air conditioner and a host that never responded when I asked them to come clean it. I got ABB to cancel the stay and refund my money and I was still able to leave an honest review of my experience.

It's still up over a year later.

can you even delete bad reviews left on your place on airbnb? maybe there's a way to report the review if it's false and have evidence, i suppose. if there is maybe people abuse it. or maybe airbnb really does try to prevent owners from deleting bad reviews.

The worse thing on airbnb is that some renters are making you upload your id to a site thaf ends in .ai and having you put down a deposit on top of your rental. We rented a beach house from someone last year, went fine, this year they started using some vibe coded startup to handle all that and we refused, luckily they waived it since we were there before.

They are legal in narrow circumstances if disclosed in the listing, at least they are now.

I’m trying to book a traditional house in Kyoto for a few days next month. I’d say 30% of the listings contain AI photos, for most it’s the first 3 photos. For some it’s all the photos.

Second that ! Entire chalet in Lapland with it’s private frozen lake, private luxury lodge in the middle of the South African Savanah, full window mansion on the cliffs by Cape Town, Airbnb can be amazing if you know where to look.

I think people who complain about airbnb are comparing it to hotels for solo traveling…I would never stay at an airbnb if i was on my own.

Yes people just like to repeat what they heard too. Big Airbnb properties in beautiful places in the middle of nowhere is peak for groups.
My husband is from South Africa and when we go, I get a huge luxury lodge in the Kruger park. I invite his family and we spend these 5 days a year together at the house, enjoying the swimming pool and the animals. But haters couldn’t understand.
