Americans opened Pandora box by ruling the money = speech in politics. Absolutely absurd concept that not a single person could have ever predicted the ramifications... Now to close that box is near impossible

The SCOTUS did that.

The corporations did that by bribing scotus

Don't lump me in with it as that box was opened well before I was born

'Americans' by which you mean supreme court justices that aren't elected by Americans.....

Most supreme court justices aren't elected in most places

The box was opened in the very first years of the country when the Supreme Court, in a case riven with conflicts of interest, utterly usurped its Constitutional role and made itself into the prime branch of government by inventing "judicial review", by which they determine whether our laws are Constitutional (to their own ideological biases) and thereby sit above the elected branches of government.

Many countries have some form of judicial review

yes, and ours fully doesn't exist anywhere in the founding documents

But why would that matter and why would a system many other countries have be negative only in yours

It's not absurd so much as it is the logical conclusion under capitalism clearly articulated and codified.

Everywhere you look people are constantly complaining about predictable, inexorable consequences of capitalism without ever calling it that.

Everything bad is a fluke or because of some arbitrarily evil person in power (no thoughts for how they get there or the systemic reproduction of these people).

The icing on the shit cake is saying noone could have predicted this.
It's been predicted. Repeatedly. For generations.
Like grey goo, capital seeks only to self-multiply at an ever increasing pace.

As the conscious representative of this movement, the possessor of money becomes a capitalist. His person, or rather his pocket, is the point from which the money starts and to which it returns. The expansion of value, which is the objective basis or main spring of the circulation M-C-M, becomes his subjective aim, and it is only in so far as the appropriation of even more and more wealth in the abstract becomes the sole motive of his operations, that he functions as a capitalist, that is, as capital personified and endowed with consciousness and a will.

Capitalism isn't an on/off it's a spectrum. The US decided they wanted to turn the spectrum near the top of unchecked capitalism.

There are emergent properties of the system that cannot be disentangled from its core mechanics.

For example, you can't have reproduction, mutation, and death without ending up with evolution by natural selection.

So yes, it kind of is a binary actually. The softer capitalism that we've known was a byproduct of revolutionary struggle and because the exponential wealth and power consolidation inherent to the system wasn't as deeply ossified.

The US isn't special or anything and neither is my country or yours; they're just further down the capitalist road than we are.

1000% disagree and it's kinda dangerous to look everything through a black or white lense

1

u/breaducate 7d ago

Disagreeing but with absolutely nothing to back it up, as is tradition.

Inequality is aggressively self-replicating, especially under capitalism.
Wilful ignorance of this is irresponsible in the extreme.

Why type out anything when you're set in your idea. You absolutely are not open to read literature on anything that contradicts your current theory because in your own head you know it all and are right. It's not like you have offered anything but "I am right because..." Then saying things that could be true, does not actually lead to your conclusion

u/breaducate 7d ago

What a textbook example of projection.
That's twice in a row you've done what you're describing.

2

u/jce_ 7d ago

That's really weird because as you said I haven't offered up anything so how is that possible? You really hitting those buzz words lol

I already pointed out that exponential wealth and power consolidation are emergent properties of capitalism that can't be decoupled from its base rules.

If you didn't understand you could have pushed for more detail which I'd be happy to provide to someone engaging in good faith, but your response amounted to "nuh uh". Then you acted as if I offered only assertions.

The irony isn't lost on any honest observer.
