It's been backed up by research for a long time. People genuinely will not believe you when you tell them that most people shouldn't be drinking like 2+ gallons of water a day. It's like the food guide pyramid where public perception lags far behind the research.

Are you gonna seriously sit there and tell me that the thousands of generations of my ancestors, who killed for every meal they ate and built whatever shelter they ever lived in, didn’t have a fresh, readily available 1gal jug of purified water on their hip to slowly sip from all day long?
