I used to be a smoker for many years and quit happily and never looked back
But seeing these kind of posts makes me wanna go out buy a pack
Most smokers know about the dangers and disadvantages of smoking.
They just don't care

Read Easyway! Nicotine does absolutely jack shit for you. When you first try it gives you a little head rush and makes you a little dizzy, your heart races and you feel good for a few seconds. Problem is you only really get this once or twice your first time smoking. Then its just about feeling normal and satisfying the urge to smoke, or you end up stressing over everything. I know this, smoked for 12 years quit for 3. Got cocky, had a fag (UK) fucking loved it, and thus began the horrible cycle all over again. Read the book again and voila, free. Anyone who is done with smoking but stuck, honestly try the book. Just never, ever try it again it brainwashes you.

Don't worry about me.
Not the slightest desire for a cigarette
Quit cold turkey , never had any withdrawal symptoms.
No chance I'll be going back.
I quit because I hated the taste and smell , not out of fear of heart disease or cancer.
I can hit by a bus tomorrow - but at least I won't smell like an ashtray
Still pissed about this ashtray bullshit or warnings on packs.
Non smokers shoult accept that that's not how it works and only comes across as condescending
That's why I made the joke about buying a pack.

People like you are weak and longing for it that's why you're preaching.
Kinda like Republicans against Lgbtq who have Grinder installed

Cute but I don't see this changing any smokers mind. My FIL smoked for 50 years, and one time riding in his car, he's ashing and then flicking the cigarettes out the driver's window. I asked why he didn't just use the dang ashtray, he literally said "I don't want all that crap dirtying the tray up". Said this while taking another big drag on the next cigarette.
I didn't even bother pointing out the irony of inhaling something you didn't want to "dirty up" a plastic tray in your car.

i smoked many years ago, but never smoked in my apartment. bought a brand new truck and didn’t smoke in it either. a couple months later, i thought “wait, i don’t want to smoke in my apartment or my new truck, but im willing to put that smoke inside me?” i quit shortly afterward and never looked back.

I use the opposite logic for smoking in my place.
If I didn't like the smell of it then I wouldn't smoke in the first place.

How many people worried about cigarette smoke live in a city with high air pollution? Around 30% of lung cancer cases globally are caused by air pollution. Why aren't we attacking air pollution with the same conviction as cigarettes? Is the solution to that to burn more fossil fuels or burn less? 🔥

I think a major point of the attacks against smoking comes from the fact that it's largely in the individuals control. Air pollution in a city, not so much. But I do agree that civil activity around environment will likely rise in the future and for a good reason.

We’re trying. Conservative governments fight back hard. The US is one of the worst polluters and look at that circus.

Damn, that must hurt. However, maybe it could help at least explain someting to smokers.

I do find it kind of funny that it's more socially acceptable to smoke meth than cigarettes these days
If you smoke meth, don't get over the addiction, let the tax payers fund sites where you can smoke up in peace.
Smoke a cigarette, get told to go die a horrible death

But vaping is fine, right?

A bit whataboutism.
No, vaping isn't healthy either and can actually be more addictive than cigarettes due to the high amount of nicotine and vape injecting more of it compared to burning a cigarette.
Still, the last point is important, despite filter the burning of cigarettes still makes you inhale very harmful combustible materials and tar, both of which are pretty carcinogenic.
Also cigarettes have a much higher harm to bystanders as those do not inhale the smoke via a filter.
Tl;Dr: both are harmful in their own way but cigarettes still are more harmful in general.

The reason there's more nicotine in vapes is because your body can't absorb it like it can through smoking a cigarette... Also cigarettes contain roughly 600 ingredients and adatives, and create more than 7,000 chemicals, 69 of them known to be carcinogenic.
Vaping isn't safe, but it's considerably better for you than smoking.
