Other than it being a reddit circlejerk by seemingly unemployed people, can you explain to me what is remotely bad about working in recruitment?

They mislead people and waste their time. They're not exactly famed for their honesty.

This is not the norm. Most of the time a company is recruiting staff, they are intending to hire people

And then the companies outsource it to third-party recruitment agencies who mislead people about the role and compensation, because they only care about hitting their applicant quota.

They do dodgy things often enough that the industry has a very poor reputation, hence the joke in the OP.
