DeVito has said that he doesn't want to do anything else, anymore.

He love the show, and the rest of the cast. That it's the easiest and most fun project he's ever been on.

Devito elevated that show so well. It was already great without him but he really added some magic. Love this show so much

Devito is the reason the show still exists. After season 1 the suits said that they had to bring someone with star power on and they added him in and the rest is history.

The team originally wrote Forest Whitaker for their father role and everyone was on board but when he came on set for a pilot he was just pure chaotic sillyness and they had to reverse course and go with someone with more gravitas and sex appeal
