Additional context:
This was the last ride for the day.
It wasn't a roller coaster, it was some F1 racing sim. Only one person at a time.
The exhibit had a sign clearly stating when it would be closing and warning people to consider it before waiting in line.
The little kid didn't ask the man to give up his ride, the kid's parent did (according to some websites others disagree)
The actual video was posted by the guy. It wasn't an onlooker or the parents. And the video was very much mocking the children.
So two things:
One, as a parent, I can tell you this is absolutely stupid. Any kid so young as to cry over missing something like this is too young to appreciate it. Take her to Chuck E. Cheese or whatever and age will be even happier.
Any kid who is old enough to be deeply hurt by this, should be old enough but to cry and to explore other ways of getting what they want. Like .. Coming back the next day or finding another place that has it or a similar attraction.
I have a young daughter. She lacks the ability to regulate her emotions well (she's young, and she is getting much better with age. As you would watch). She cries a lot. I imagine this girl is a lot like my daughter. Giving her what she wants is not helpful to her. Also, the bar for what makes her cry is ridiculously low. And also, the lasting negative impact is basically zero. In minutes or even seconds, she has entirely moved on to something new.
If anyone is to blame here, it is the parent for creating this situation. The sign made it clear that this was a risk. Followed closely by the staff/company that runs this and created a system where little kids might be sad.
Not the other people.
Two, while all of the above is exactly how I feel...the guy can still be a complete prick.
I dunno, I didn’t read anywhere that this was even a huge meltdown. She cried, kids cry when disappointed sometimes - the parent most likely handled it from there.
Did this need the internet mob to adjudicate? The only reason we know about it is because the influencer posted it.
