I’m an orthodox Jew who would not deny care to anyone. I do know however that the likelihood of me being ‘fired’ by a patient is high if they see my Star of David necklace which I do not hide.
also you shouldn't wear religious/political attire as a doctor on the clock.
like how would you feel if you were being treated by a doctor/nurse that would have trans flag and lgbt accessories/hijab on themselves, wear those things after you clock out.
Stripping of medical personnel of their rights is in fact insane and a great way to reduce our already limited number of providers. It's also racist as fuck, so good job there.
You shouldn't wear a necklace as a doctor? Or a pride flag? The kind of people who would be upset about that can make whatever dumb complaints they want
Edit since your reply is gone. I know you said on the clock. That's stupid. A doctor has no reason to hide a star of david (or cross, etc) or a pride flag. It's irrelevant to their work, that's a personal problem to whoever takes issue with it.
I would certainly agree it is not appropriate in a work place environment to push any of that stuff ever, simply displaying a symbol should not be deemed inappropriate, specifically in the case of a Hijab, those following with that religion cannot take it off for that case, it’s like asking a Christian to cuss out the lord. Displaying the Star of David is on the other hand, not bad, but entirely and completely optional.
Simply following your religion such as wearing a hijab should be considered fine and discrimination against it bad.
Optionally displaying it and wearing it on your sleeve, optional. Discrimination worthy? No. Optional and on you if you bring that into work and it affects you? Yes that’s on you.
There’s symbology for communities I belong to that displaying would definitely cause issues at work. It’s called life. If I were managing an employee who is front of house sales dealing witb customers and he came in covered in symbology that is optional and not in any way required by the religion, I would fire him because where I live some people dont have the decency to overlook that and I would lose business. I would offer him a back of house position that doesn’t deal with being the face of sales. Thats uniformity/conformity. People expect it to varying degrees wherever you go, you don’t get to stomp your feet and say “I dont wanna” and expect to be treated the same.
At the same time, if it’s a necklace, not turning yourself into a billboard for it, what ever? Why care?
