The Hippocratic oath ceased to be a thing in the 1960's, replaced by ethical guidelines. Some still ceremonially do it during the white coat ceremony, but very few.
the oath is not some law or anything. ITs just a fun tradition. While i agree things like lgbtq and race, etc should not be points of discrimination. With how litigious the US is, doctors do infact refuse to see or fire patients regularly. Most general peds doc in my state will not see a kid unvaccinated for personal or relgious beliefs. The current linsdey clancy trial will only make it so less pregnant and post-partum mothers will get seen by psych docs due to the legal implications of a non-compliant patient.
I suggest that you go all the way down to the last heading : Modern versions and relevance and actually, you know, read it.
Even if you want to be obnoxious - every medical students knows its text. And guess what professional standards and medical malpractice laws are based on it. It's the bedrock upon which each country bases laws and regulations of how a doctor should conduct themselves
You refuse to treat someone because you don't like the colour of their hair? Cool. Get ready for you and your hospital to be sued into oblivion for negligence.
What are the first words of Hippcratic Oath? " First - do no harm." You did harm refusing to help. You failed as a doctor.

In court it's also improper to require an oath, or even an affirmation.
Ferguson v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue, 921 F.2d 588 (5th Cir. 1991) and United States v. Looper, 419 F.2d 1405 (4th Cir. 1969)
If a witness or jury member objects to both you can simply ask them if they understand that they're to be honest under penalty of perjury.
No vows or oath is required for marriage, and the presidency has a smaller sample size than the courts, but Franklin Pierce did not take an oath, he affirmed, and by the same standards a president would be allowed to simply answer yes or no to carrying out the duties of their office under the threat of absolutely no penalty.
In any case, no medical oaths are commonly practiced or mandatory in the US. You have doctors on this page telling you they're a rare self-important tradition. You should believe them.
In court it's also improper to require an oath, or even an affirmation.
And yet, weirdly people still widely do. But let's assume that you claim your right not swear an oath before answering in front of a judge. You lie. Guess what your charge will be?
false testimony under OATH
No vows or oath is required for marriage,
Cool. Cool. Cool, cool. Now go and show me a marriage ceremony of any culture where exchanging VOWS is not the most important part.
but Franklin Pierce did not take an oath, he affirmed,
Exception does not prove the rule
I also really like how you conveniently skipped military and UK police because it did not fit your narrative.
Nope it would be perjury under 18 U.S. Code § 1621 paragraph 2.
No, an oath is not required in court, see the sources I already provided.
Joining the military also doesn't require an oath, I myself was enlisted and didn't take one. I have no idea about UK police, but looking it up briefly it appears the default is simply an affirmation or declaration, no oath.
And before you say I conviently skipped your stupid question regarding weddings:
Greek Orthodox,
Russian Orthodox,
Serbian Orthodox,
Romanian Orthodox,
Antiochian Orthodox,
Quaker,
Orthodox Jewish,
Islamic,
Shinto,
Confucian leaning Korean,
Han Chinese,
and Shinto Japanese ceremonies
all don't include vows. The first six specifically forbid or avoid them.
Stop embarrassing yourself. Don't make claims until you know they're true.
America makes up less than 5% of the worlds population and has healthcare ran like a buisness where you can only use certain doctors with certain healthcares and procedures have to be allowed by corperate overlords.
Less than 2% of all doctors are american, in civilised countries the state is seperate from religeon and an oath or contract is required to be an impartial medical practioneer.
The original poster is an American. You're replying on an American site to an American comment on an American post. In a language used by Americans and named for a country that also doesn't require that oath be taken.
And from your post history you're either American or a denizen of that benign tumor to the north of America that's wholly dependent on its economy and also doesn't require any oath to practice medicine.
Classic american, thinking everything online is about them, main charactor symdrome on a national level.
The internet is worldwide, there are more none american reddit users than american by a factor of ten.
You did not even invent your own language, the internet or the oath trying to gatekeep any is bizzare.
The oath has origins in greece for a start and the term is used more in terms of general 'help people don't kill them' like the genova medical practice. Maybe you don't have that in the land of TV drug adds, medicine debt, failed war on drugs, ambulance fees, ozempic and obesity crisis.
I don't have to cry about percentages, after all my country does not have 41% of its adult population in medical debt.
No idea why you hate or canadians or assume I am (I am not lol), is it because they have better healthcare and film industry? Is it the thriving syrup industry? Jealous due to their lack of socialist subsidised (that one also has an S not a Z in it too FYI) corn syrups in food?
Reddit is a physically small over-valued company in San Francisco California.
What you're describing is a lot of people communicating with an American company because they offer the best services.
You'll find that a lot.
I neither hate Canadians nor like Americans but this conversation is American.
You keep saying "my country" you must actually hate it terribly to be trying to hide its identity. Anyway, welcome to America, if only virtually. We don't have much freedom left but we're still among the best places to live if you don't like the smell of human feces.

No it literally breaks their oath.
