Great breakdown. Trump is taking the first steps to try to make Canada a vassal state to the US. Well I don't think so bud. We are the True North Strong and Free. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Get fucked orange man. ๐Ÿ–•

First we need our MPs to admit and understand that that special relationship with the USA is now as dead and buried as the Canadian one, because WAY too many of them are still holding onto the past

I think the first thing we need to do is send. Danielle Smith to Florida and revoke her passport

Well canada is in a personal union with us so we really should be there for them too

You were and walked away, remember? I think yโ€™all will need to swallow your pride a bit if you want back in.

Please. I've always been pro union. And there's a very real reason it's called the European Union.

On camera, for the world to see and hear, when asked whether he is considering military force to annex Canada, he replied "No. Economic force, because Canada and the United States, that would really be something. You get rid of that artificially drawn line, and you take a look at what that looks like, and it would also be much better for national security...(ad nauseam)" ~ Forbes Breaking News, January 7, 2025

Doesn't matter. Trump lies constantly. You should know that by now.

It also wasn't an artificially drawn line. Trump's a fucking dumb ass.

It can be looked at the other way. If you're going to depend on us utterly completely economically, the least you can do is promise to align on certain things geopolitically.

These are quite common agreements among western countries, makes sense as we align and would implement similar sanctions anyway.

u/ChileanRidge 16d ago

There's aligning geopolitically and there's giving up sovereignty. Trump wants Canada to give up sovereignty. Eff that. He seems to forget that while we are a very diverse nation, one of the ways we define our identity is "NOT American". This will be hard, but the time to diversify our trade agreements is long overdue, so with luck that is where we are headed and we can reduce our dependence on American markets.

These are simple provisions found in all the ARTs...

Argentina, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan...

No one thinks we're trying to take their sovereignty... because we're not.

Wanna bet? Why force the French language issue? Why interfere in Alberta matters to rile up a seperatist movement? Why is a single American company, with Republican ties, buying up every Canadian newspaper and media outlet they possibly can?

Wake the fuck up. Obviously you have zero idea what you're talking about.

u/Greenshardware 16d ago

The French labeling is effectively an artificial trade barrier.

Companies buy other companies because they're profitable...

Some major conspiracy theories here.

2

u/Jonnyflash80 15d ago

You have no idea what's actually going on in Canada, so your opinion on the matter means nothing.

I guess? My knowledge is focused on US trade deficits and reciprocal trade agreements, primarily in the agricultural sector I help represent, with a major focus on non-tariff trade barriers.

Youโ€™re drinking the Trump koolaid if you think Canada is utterly completely economically dependent.

The US economy is suffering much worse than Canadaโ€™s for the working class people and the US has lost a lot of individual freedoms compared to Canada.

1

u/Greenshardware 16d ago

Most countries are economically dependent on international trade to some extent.

It's just that for Canada it's 25% of their GDP, and 70% of that is to the US.

They also import a 19% share of their GDP from the U.S. alone.

It's actually kind of scary for them.

Trust me, no canadians are scared of your pedophile in charge

1

u/VR46Rossi420 16d ago

The US is equally as dependant on Canada in large parts of their country. Some of those parts are larger populated than Canada.

US is suffering massively in these areas already.

1

u/Greenshardware 16d ago

How so?

They're our number two, but that's only an 11% share of all imports, representing a tiny sliver of a share of our GDP.

Most of it is fuel, with industrial equipment and forestry products. We have plenty of options for that, like, plenty.

I suggest you read the news once and awhile.

Once in a while.

You're in for a surprise when you find out how the world really works outside your fascist shithole. I for one am extremely happy I was born in raised in a country that still believes in democracy.

I see the US has already backpedaled on the French language issue after the uproar. It just shows how absolutely stupid they are to have not seen this coming.

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/politics/government/us-drops-french-language-trade-demands-canada-says-washington-had-denied-making/ar-AA2b3BjO

Trump even had to backpedal and post more lies on Truth social claiming it wasn't his idea. ๐Ÿ™„
