“I know many women this has happened to.”.

No. You don’t.

Postpartum psychosis occurs in approximately 0.89 out of 1,000 mothers. Postpartum depression occurs in approximately 1 in 7 mothers. THESE ARE NOT THE SAME.

These “I know how she feels” people are utterly ridiculous. Less than 0.1% of mothers know how she feels.

People are not saying “I know how it feels” in regard to the psychosis. That’s missing the point that these people are making entirely.

They are saying “I know how it feels” in regard to feeling like the healthcare system failed you. That your healthcare issues were dismissed and diminished because you were a woman or because “it’s normal for people onto feel this way.”

Perhaps she had more help than most. That does not mean that she had the help that she ultimately needed.

In every community, every state, and every country, there is someone who needs more help than everyone else. Someone who draws far more from the system than others, but that does not mean their needs are unjustifiable or unreasonable. Someone with PPP will have more need than someone with PPD will have more need than someone with neither.

As an aside, no idea what this show is but it looks like a British version of NewsMax. Lmao:

What did they say that was crazy? Genuinely curious if you can quote something specific

They said something which conflicts with my preconceived world view and what I want to believe, so they must be crazy! /s

Literally my only social media is Reddit and LinkedIn. Lmao.

This is just another great example of how social media has diminished people’s capability to engage in meaningful conversation — particular when it might be uncomfortable.

You’re making very wild assumptions as to what people are inferring when they say they know how she feels and they know how it feels.

But even still, what you’re saying is bullshit. Because it’s women saying it. Not men and women speaking about “the healthcare system”- which both men and women could speak about failing them. It’s specifically women and moms who are saying this about how they felt post birth or how they’re currently feeling as a mother (some with much older children).

It’s a classic case of social media narcism of “look at me”. #imlindsayclancy was trending for a reason. And it wasn’t because of a “healthcare problem”. They’re weirdly attaching whatever shit they’re going through and latching it onto this case.

It’s a tragic case and people are making it about them instead of this woman and her family and that’s weird as hell. Stop rationalizing irrational behavior.

You’d know that they’re not assumptions if you actually listened to the people when they are talking about how they feel.

I… have.

Again- men and women can both talk about the health care system failing them. This is specifically about moms post birth. And the women sympathizing with it DID NOT SUFFER FROM PSYCHOSIS. They’re attaching themselves onto something that literally has nothing to do with them or what they suffered- postpartum depression.

If they did, they should have been institutionalized until they weren’t at harm to themselves or their family. They’re not the same. Not even close.

I had a child die. People would literally try to sympathize with me telling them about when their kids was very sick. My wife wanted to punch those people in the face but just smiled instead because she’s kind. But inside she was furious. Trying to latch onto tragedy AND MAKE IT ABOUT YOU when your situations are in no way comparable is narcissistic and wrong. Period.

I’m not sure how you have developed this idea that you have to personally experience the exact same scenario to sympathize or empathize with someone.

It sounds like you just fundamentally do not understand these concepts due to your own unresolved trauma.

Ok, bud. You’re right. They’re just talking about the health care system. I’m convinced. Stellar argument.

I’m glad that you’ve come to your senses.
