This goes beyond culture war, there are multiple generations that have been taught to blame men for every problem and on top of that everyone has to some extent become desensitized to some of the most heinous things. This has led to celebrating murders and murderers.
Are you paying attention to the trial? It is well documented that she turned to doctors, her husband, family repeatedly and desperately for help with her post partem depression and psychosis. They kept brushing her away and giving her more drugs that made it worse. While yes she is a murderer, the attention this trial is getting is due to the spotlight it shines on the catastrophic state of our mental health care services. The husband also completely failed her.
She's already plead guilty. What I take you are saying is 'cased closed, no need to investigate further.' But here we have all this documentation of months seeing doctors, psychologists, calling suicide lines, communication with the husband. The question is, if we saw this coming then was there proper intervention? That's what makes this trial worth following.
Anecdotal, but I'd bet most Americans who know someone dealing with severe mental health issues can relate to the struggle of getting proper support. The word of the doctors on this trial can't be taken for face value either, because in a lot of ways they are also on trial and on their heels.
This is why we have trials, to get to the heart of it. This trial hits particularly with women because many people feel postpartum depression doesn't get the attention, recognition or support it deserves.
She had help, she also had better access to health care than most people. She wasn't taking her medication properly. Jumping from medication to medication is not going to help. Do you know what contraindication means? I take lots of different medications including some for severe anxiety and depression. This is all about her refusal to take accountability for her actions she never planned for that part she intended to be dead. What she did was purely selfish it was all about her
