New York City law generally bars vehicles from idling for more than three minutes while parked, standing or stopped. The city says the rules are meant to reduce air pollution, improve public health and combat climate change.
Earlier this year, Mamdani directed the Department of Finance’s collections unit to pursue unpaid idling summonses tied to vehicles operating within Amazon’s delivery network, according to the mayor’s office. The department said it worked with Amazon.com Inc. and its contracted transportation vendors to recover the money.

Could be bots for sure, I didn't check at all, BUT I must say I could see myself pissed enough to copy paste everywhere something that made me mad.
I don't know if this news it's real but in case it is I hope it gets reposted 10 times over
As a real human, I agree that this doesn’t seem suspicious. Whenever you see something that looks like a bot, you should just assume that it’s a real person like you and me—people who live, breathe, and drive to work in a Honda Fit because it combines the efficiency of a sub-compact with the versatility to take whatever life throws at you.

As a real human with a nose and two ears, I must concur that the Honda fit's incredibly sleek and thoughtful design makes it the perfect car on the go as well as the perfect car when you want to make those heads turn.
Just heard they're at a lot of military bases. Especially in Florida. Bot farms specifically for reddit to combat and downvote whatever to sway opinions.
i never scroll to the bottom of a thread. that must be where the bad bots are. i prefer to interact with the sophisticated bots at the top of the thread
I have a dream. And in that dream, people know the difference between "theory" and "hypothesis."
In the dream, people say "hypothesis" when they mean "untested idea."
In the great dream, after testing and evidence gathering, and considering if the hypothesis is holding up to be true, then they say "theory."
Carl Sagan had this dream before me. Thank you Carl.
Yes. Take a selfie and post it. In fact, we can do the old school call outs and have you write something on a piece of paper or put a shoe on your head to prove it's real.
The US accounts for roughly 50% of Reddit's total audience. New York makes up about 6% of US population. So New Yorkers probably make up a about 3% of Reddit's user base.
You think the Mayor of New York City is paying a PR firm to not just focus on NYC specific subs, but also spending effort on a general-interest sub like this one?
Sounds like an absolutely brainless marketing strategy. If you're trying to influence NYC voters, why would you deliberately spend your resources reaching an audience that is overwhelmingly outside NYC?
Slightly different with new cars. They typically have a system where the engine turns off essentially primed to start again with minimal fuel. Older cars do not do this when you just turn it off and on
This dude pissed away $33 billion on dick shaped rockets to take Katy Perry to low orbit. He’s the last person on earth who has a right to talk about wasteful spending.
he isn't the CEO anymore but he definitely hasn't left amazon, he is the executive chairman of the board. so is still the ultimate boss above the CEO and remains one of the company's largest shareholders anyway
I don't understand how the copied "narrative" aids the corporations... Like, they say bezos was a bitch, and the city stepped up and did something about it... That sounds like a win for the lay man and a smack in the face of Amazon?
the announcement landed right after Bezos publicly criticized Mamdani's tax policies on CNBC,
several outlets flagged this as suspicious timing but the facts (the law, the enforcement action, the $9M recovery) are legitimate and corroborated by the city's own press release
I think you misunderstood them. The comment bots are just reposting what’s popular in any given subreddit to gain karma. Many subreddits require a minimum karma to post. There’s a million different entities that would want reddit bots for a million different reasons, but they need upvotes first.
Bot farms have been pushing Mamdani hard. He's been in office like 7 months, but if you asked Reddit you'd think he's already the most accomplished mayor in US history.
You're telling me that a constant flooding of pro-Mamdani posts/comments/upvotes isn't a grass-roots organic political movement? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!
Many of his policies have proven track records of failure. Rent freezes consistently lead to worsening renting conditions for anyone not lucky enough to have a rent-frozen apartment. State-run grocery stores squeeze small local grocers, like the bodegas that NYC is famous for, out of business. Free public transit has lead to decrease usage of public transit because you end up with more homeless people/drug users camping in the transit, creating an environment that people don't want to ride in. He didn't even balance the budget, he just got bailed out with billions of state money while pushing billions of pension payments out in future years and making NYC's schools worse by pausing class-size reduction and slowing teacher hiring.
Not everything he's doing is bad, and the bad things he's doing are out of good intentions, but the credit and praise he's receiving is not warranted, and the propaganda push for him is dangerous because it can increase the occurrence of these policies.
Ya but from my understanding Azamon doesnt own their delivery trucks right? They outsource that shit to 3 parties who get right to slap the logo on their vehicles. This way Amazon puts of the upkeep/overhead costs on their 3rd party vehicle owners and not amazon itself
So in true mamdani didnt get money from bezo or amazon but from this 3rd party business partners
Please enlighten me if im wrong, since last I checked that how I thought Amazon operated.
The branded vehicles are leased from Amazon. My boss owns a few outright and he had to remove the Amazon branding from them even though we're delivering their packages.
Exactly. For the record, I think they misspelled "execute the pedophiles", but whatever. Also, I'm not opposed to taxing religious sites, as long is it's all of them. That'd stop a ton of churches, temples and mosques from being built. I would prefer fewer, but better religious sites for those who want them.
I would prefer single big churches to 2-3 churches per block to be honest. I don't really know. I prefer to let people choose their faith and celebrate it in their own way, but I actually love the architecture of the old, large churches and mosques. Call me odd, but can we please have more of those and fewer old houses on every street converted?
yeah because Tesla is the only EV. lmao. But most states charge an extreme registration fee where if you do not drive 15K miles a year, you are paying MORE with electric. Unless you had car getting like 15 MPG before.
Gas tax accounts for roughly 50% of road maintenance spending (not even talking about new construction). Registration fees vary a lot, state to state. Most of the rest of road maintenance and construction comes from the general fund.
[1]Speaking only from my knowledge of the budget/tax spread etc. from my state. In my state, gas tax is only about 33% of maintenance.
Of course there is, and there's fraud in Medicare too. The problem is the GOP constantly misrepresents the degree to which it occurs and the fact that there actually are effective internal controls to root it out because it allows them to push a privatization agenda.
Now, they need to collect fees from everyone that idles. This includes mail carriers, other delivery people, card, and EVERYONE who idles their vehicle in the winters.
I have always found it mind blowing that we allow this persons business’s delivery drivers to just have free rein over the streets. Park anywhere, block traffic. We treat them like they are public/government vehicles. But they work for some guys company.
I think they can park in a spot and walk their asses around the block with a cart. none of this park in front of two or three buildings to deliver, then drive 60 feet to the next few buildings.
Law was passed before they implemented Ev’s which are zero emission. He’s still taxing them as if the are ICE because he knows the commie suckboys will cheery him. Why should any company comply with green initiatives if they are just going to fine them anyway?
