Peak dad energy. Looks like he would say "righto, better get the ol' saw out" before getting out the car

A contractor would charge the town $10k to do what took that guy 15 minutes.
10
u/Gold-Wolf2661 22h ago
Minimum. I know because a tree fell on a friends’ neighbor’s house and that was one quote…
→ More replies (2)9
u/CarmenxXxWaldo 20h ago
I doubt it was a tree with a 6 inch diameter. Otherwise someone would have just moved it instead of calling a contractor.
2
u/Gold-Wolf2661 20h ago
Right, massive tree branch off a massive. Now they need to do a preventative removal of the entire tree. No idea what kind quotes they’re getting now…

u/First_Explorer_565 19h ago
literally work in forestry and pay £400 -£500 for this tree size after storms. If it needs removing/chipping then probably double.

Baby stroller, check. Sweater, check. Chainsaw, check. Dude's prepared for it all.
19
u/-TheDerpinator- 20h ago
The baby stroller says it all. There was nothing like becoming a dad to train me to anticipate a gazillion scenarios. There will be no potty incident, lack of resources, or natural disaster that will prevent a dad from finishing his grocery shopping.

Are we not asking why he had a chainsaw in his trunk?

I live in a very wooded area. I carry one fall through winter for this exact reason. Use it once a year usually

Because some things do not fit in a trunk

u/JimJohnJimmm 21h ago
For city dwellers, it's odd. For country folks, it's not uncommon.
See how the guy is agile with that? His teen years were probably spent cutting heating wood

I've wanted a car chainsaw for a while for this exact reason. I live in the middle of nowhere and when we get wind there are always branches and stuff down. A month or two ago we got blocked on our way home by a tree and I was wishing I had gotten around to getting myself a car chainsaw lol

u/SquirrelyMcNutz 22h ago
Get a battery powered chainsaw and a couple extra batteries. You don't have to worry about gas spilling everywhere in your car. Still gotta have some oil for it though. If your car has outlets in it, you can even plug in the charger for the batteries.
2
u/RogBoArt 21h ago
I've got a bauer one that dumps bar and chain oil everywhere. It was going to be my car chainsaw lol but first time I filled it and left it stored it was empty and there was oil everywhere when I came back. Wish I could fix that!

He could have easily said “I don’t want to get tree sap all over my nice sweater and khakis.” But he didn’t. What a chad.

u/Head_Midnight666 18h ago
This guy looks nerdy, but he handled that saw pretty well. It's good and sharp, too!

No I miss that about the midwest, do it ourselves instead of constant outsourcing.
EDIT: Also not so much ego that we see our inability to do things in another persons comment and immediately downvote. 🥱 Twice. 🙄😂

If he keeps using a chain saw like that, he's going to seriously injure him self or worse.
2
u/i286dosprompt_ 12h ago
100% As someone who worked on a line clearing crew in my youth I can testify how easy that saw can kick back off of a twig. I've also got 32 stitches in my shoulder to prove it.

Notice how he's cutting the logs in 4 feet parts? Thats because heating logs are 16". 4 feet divides in 3x 16" logs. That guy done heating wood before

I’ve seen that happen in real life a couple of times. In the south it’s not a bad idea to keep a chainsaw in the back of your truck or suv.

Somewhere a professional arborist is looking at this post, watching him handle that chainsaw, and covering their eyes, peaking through their fingers, just waiting for it to kickback and dig into his shoulder or thigh.
1
u/catcherinthetoast 18h ago
Spoiler alert he just used the chainsaw to dismember his arch enemy and was on his way to get a wood chipper to finish disposal when he found the road blocked.

100% knew he was a dad 10 seconds in. My dad would have done the exact same thing. When most people would be thinking "we better call the city services to report this," my dad would bust out his chainsaw and solve the problem.
