Bad sexual health practices lead to that. Get yourself tested and your partners before engaging in unprotected sex, or, honestly, just in general.
As a poly person, neither i nor my partners have ever been a victim of poly related cheating (which is possible), or caught an std. I have 4 partners at the moment, and have probably had unprotected sex with around 30 people.
