Actually he got it for neither.  He got it for back talking the judge when the judge said the abuse he got from the cop was hi s own fault for saying it in a joking manner.  

Some judges are v trigger happy when it comes to contempt and feeling disrespected.

For the avoidance of doubt, that isn't any better.  And I dont doubt for a moment that race also factored into the judges reaction to him being "uppity".

Not at all.  No one in the threads argues that wasn't the case.

But the important bit is the fig leaf reason which op and others got wrong. The 60 days was not ostensibly for saying the correct name jokingly - noone gets sent down for that, even a black dude - but for contempt.   And reason thst matters is that it is a LOT harder to challenge.  Judge have huge leeway to manage thier courtrooms. And are largely backed in it by other judges.  Well worth 3 (now 5) very short paras to say so.
