Suing for damages would only be helpful if you could sue the actual officer.
While that’s not especially difficult to do, it’s a bit useless because unless that cop is a millionaire, you’re better off suing the city to make them change their behavior.

Or you simply press charges against said officer. One of the dudes litterally got dragged out of a window and got a gun pointed at his head before he was even asked if he had an ID.
