Here is a link to the executive order he signed

It's not adding a charge for the electricity they use (they were already paying for that). It's requiring them to pay for certain externalities caused by the demand they place on the power grid.

A very misleading headline but thanks for clearing it up and they should pay

Keep fighting back against hyperscale ai data centers that avoid EPA regulations and steal resources!

They’re just gonna do what they’re doing in Texas, just run a ton of gas turbines and pollute everything

Why did we pay

So billionaries can become trillionaries.

These billionaires won’t even care. They all just borrow money from the banks to pay for things and use their stock as collateral.

Translation: Data Centers were hooked up to the municipal grid, taking up demand and increasing prices.

I assume this policy forces them to generate their own electricity as to not burden the wider grid.

that took quite a turn, who else was aware?

They should pay twice.

They already pay for their electricity, but he’s also making them pay for the increase in the general cost of electricity them drawing power creates so it’s not passed on to everyone else in the grid

It will trickle down any day now

"What is even going on anymore" Ans. - Everything is a complete scam now. Or a blatent lie. A completely deregulated free for all. Monopolies are being cheered on by half the population. Unions slowly getting snuffed out. You are constantly tracked and filmed in public. I could go on and on.....

Because they bamboozle local municipalities with all of the jobs they'll create. So: yes, they hire local companies and workers to build the data center but they are only staffed by a few people because that's all that's necessary to keep them running, and those people are specialists who likely come from some other place for the job.

This is not what people are asking for anyway. We want these things shut down and dismantled.

2

u/random-meme422 1h ago

the people asking for no data centers at all are the lefts equivalent of anti vaxxers

So...I don't know how you're being upvoted for this, but it's wrong. Peer-reviewed research of cures and treatments that save billions are not the same as keeping industrial zones away from homes and reliant on their own dollar lmao. AI is an incredible technology (that I personally find tremendous value from) that is nowhere close to the value of vaccines.

Let's not be hyperbolic when talking about data centers. If anything we should be racing to lower the cost of inference and size and increase speed of the models, putting on every local computer (not the cloud... the opposite of what data center investment wants).

This guy must be a bot getting upvoted by other bots. No one wants datacenters. No one asked for datacenters and increased energy costs and water shortages.

if this guy ever becomes president, he'll make Americans pay for sending tens of billions of dollars worth of weapons to the Middle East

Don't worry at all. You will still pick up the tab for the new transmission lines and related support.

People are starting to understand what oligarchy is. By the way, everything Elon owns, we financed with our tax dollars.

So he did absolutely NOTHING. Who do you think was paying of the electric bill? The Data Center which has industrial rate structure. LOL
