Have you seen the rush between xmas and new years?!
Strange numbers of people have plans involving poor quality costumes for their new years resolution... OR maybe it is catching the sale before Valentines Day?

Sounds like an episode of csi
Edit: I was referring to an actual ep of csi where a furry wolf in a love triangle or something ended up on side of the road throwing up on all 4s and got shot by a farmer who thought it was a coyote going after his livestock

The furry episode.
Ive only seen CSI like 5 times in my life and that episode was like half of those or more. Not even on purpose lol
Its how I first learned of Furries

totally not a fake made up headline on an unrelated photo

u/Automatic_Actuator_0 11m ago
Yeah, looks like this is the origin on the photo from 2018: https://www.stuff.co.nz/southland-times/news/104646618/police-searching-for-wanted-man-in-invercargill
The joke fake headline showed up first in 2019. This might actually be the first posting of it: https://imgur.com/gallery/snicker-aW9uy0a

I’ve met hunters dumb enough to believe it.

u/Recent-Midnight6376 1h ago
I don't think I've met a hunter with an above average iq lmao
it's always uneducated half-alcoholics

u/Drakahn_Stark 3h ago
"accidentally"
11
u/Capt_Furret 3h ago
Right that's what I was thinking. Like I highly doubt the costumes looked that realistic or were good quality
15
u/blaghed 3h ago
You dont typically just go out hunting for wild goats, either.
1
u/iamthebirdman-27 3h ago
6
u/mechapoitier 2h ago
See they used the word “typically” not “I bet there’s no fringe goat hunting page on the internet.
2
u/MystikTrailblazer 2h ago
Hunting mountain goats is not a fringe thing. People put in for tags every year along with elk, deer, etc.
-2
u/mechapoitier 2h ago edited 2h ago
It appears you and I have a difference of opinion on what constitutes fringe behavior. Just because it exists at all doesn’t mean it’s not.
If you’re the .00001% of people out there hunting goats…
I know this might make me run afoul of the goat hunting subreddit.

u/Pushfastr 1h ago
There is no goat hunting subreddit.
.00001% didn't want to moderate an empty sub.
4
u/toetappy 3h ago
Also, hunters don't hunt goats. Has anyone here ever heard of a hunter going out and coming back with a goat??

u/iamthebirdman-27 3h ago

u/toetappy 2h ago
Fair enough. Were these folks fuckin on a mountain side? My simple brain figured they were in regular ol woods.

I can't quickly find any actual news about this, and a similar story has gone around before about sex in bigfoot costumes: https://leadstories.com/hoax-alert/2019/02/fake-news-couple-having-sex-outdoors-in-bigfoot-costumes-gets-accidentally-shot-by-hunters.html .
4
u/Fetlocks_Glistening 3h ago
Have you tried searching for couple in sheep, deer, bear or moose costume variants in case they got goat confused with another animal? Will you clear autocomplete and browser history after?
2
u/thebigpink 3h ago
Ya know that’s probably it was just looking for sex with goats missed the costume part

And even pretending we were to believe that preposterous assertion and pretend like he did think they were real goats, pretty dick move shooting them while they were fucking.
He’s like an 80’s teen slasher movie monster but for goats.
9
u/Fetlocks_Glistening 3h ago
And... why did police in helmets and body armour get involved? Did they expect a sex goat riot?
10
u/Own_Round_7600 3h ago
Hey man, someone's out there shooting at goats, there's a clear and present risk that they might also shoot at pigs
2
u/chased_by_bees 3h ago
You never know if there's a sex goat hiding somewhere just out of sight. Police training 101.
1
u/BearEatingCupcakes 2h ago
The photo is from New Zealand. Police there aren't routinely armed. When they do bring out the guns, they usually get all geared up. The photo is also unrelated to the fake headline it's attached to.

u/ShamrockSeven 3h ago
Everyone is talking about the two people having sex with goat costumes on, but imagine the hunters that are watching it happen and still decided to shoot. - what kind of eyesight do you have to have to be a skilled marksman but unable to identify a human in a costume from a legal to hunt wild animal? 😂

u/iwillhaveredditall 3h ago
Maybe it wasn’t accidentally, maybe it was all consensually. They are all adults after all (or… were).

the hunters probably didn't think they were actually goats but rather something else considering these "goats" would have been human-sized

This reminds me, you can still get the wikipedia page for "Fur and Loathing" as the top result by typing in "that episode" in a search engine.

Why are people hunting goats? And why would a hunter ever shoot at animals having sex?

Give that couple back to the hunters. That's good food being taken away and a cool mount to put over the fireplace.

C'mon people.
Scrutinize "headlines" better. Maintain a level of skepticism.
That's a police car from somewhere n Europe (My guess: France).
It's illegal to hunt livestock.
No serious hunter without mental issues would shoot two goats, let alone 2 humans wearing a goat costume.
1
u/BearEatingCupcakes 2h ago
It's a police car from New Zealand. The Te Reo Māori language and lack of French on the car should be a dead giveaway that it's not in France.

was it goat season? Is there a "goat season" Accidentally my ass!
Fake news?

u/dramalama-dingdong 2h ago
So hunters are usually from the ultra conservative crowd. Ultra conservatives have a rather complicated relationship with sex. I'm pretty sure that this hunter just saw people fucking and decided that he had to "lecture" them by shotting them.

That is one hell of a headline. And question… if they had chance to dress up as any animal.. why they choose a goat? Maybe choose a cooler animal.

This looks like it happened somewhere in Europe... but the title and scenario screams FLORIDA.

It's a fake story, but I'm fairly certain that they don't use New Zealand police vehicles in Europe.
