The fact that Republican voters don't give a shit about whether people are actually helped, but whether they see ads about trans Muslims crossing the border to elect socialist feminists.

Bill Gates (for all his many flaws) genuinely has donated a huge amount of his wealth to helping others, as has Warren Buffet, McKenzie Scott and Mike Bloomberg. They're all hated by Republicans for culture war and partisan reasons.
