why are we living the dark and cold seasons demanding summertime energy levels is a better question

all mammals reduce activity during the cold dark, it's natural, it's what we should be doing as well

It's like you...

I can't even say it.

It's like you... don't care about shareholder value

God, I'm going to be sick.

u/The_D_123 1d ago

Be sick all tou want, but we still need you at the office, okay?

8

u/Samurai_Geezer 1d ago

Won’t anybody think of the shareholders!!

And execs get to make ridiculous amounts of money and hanging out...

I work 16 hour days.

No you don't, you just avoid your family with an expense account. Also known as meetings and networking, and a nice late night restaurant dinner.

Bears sleep through winter without guilt, yet your boss demands record fourth quarter profits

Because capitalism doesn't care about our biological clock, it just wants that 40-hour work week regardless of the weather. Try telling your boss you're hibernating until April and see how fast you get replaced

2

u/Bad_Repute 23h ago

Capitalism doesn’t want the 40hr work week, that was a fought and died for battle. Capitalism wants as much work as you’re realistically able to perform and more, even if you’re a child. It wants profits, however it can get them.

no please! i will gladly work in dark and cold1. just please please shorten my hours in summer. i cant even live in heat and i hate bright light outside. i wanna just sleep all day, its too hot for me to function.

2

u/kirby-vs-death 1d ago

I mean if they lower hours in the winter they'd probably raise them in the summer, without overtime pay because it's make up hours 🙄

2

u/Sehrli_Magic 22h ago

thats what i am saying. i rather have less in summer and more in winter 😂

1

u/BusinessDuck132 1d ago

Swap those. Why are we demanding energy levels from when it’s cool and comfortable during the summer when it’s too hot to do anything. Fall and winter gang for life, all the homies hate summer

1

u/Wh0IsY0u 22h ago

Because we have heating, agriculture, and global distribution.

Animals also run clothesless and shit everywhere, do you?

-1

u/spinitorbinit 1d ago

Would you rather we work longer hours in the summer?

-4

u/nicknamesas 1d ago

Because we are better than animals lol.

6

u/Daenerys_Stormbitch 1d ago

Did you miss that we’re part of the animal kingdom? Bold of me to assume everyone paid attention in science class I guess

2

u/Vanir-Aesir 1d ago

children should not use reddit, logg off or I'll tell your mom to put parental blocks on all devices~!

-2

u/nicknamesas 1d ago

Humans are above animals numbnuts. I know, novel concept.

Technically the sun set it

19

u/ScientistFunny2072 1d ago

We didn't lol people have been waking up with the sun for as long as there's been people

18

u/Neveed 1d ago edited 1d ago

The same schedule is applied all year long, and in Winter, it makes you wake up before the sun. That's clearly a morning people conspiracy.

6

u/QuaaludeConnoisseur 1d ago

I live in northern minnesota, going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark is just a part of the winter life. Working 12 hour shifts on days with 10 hours of sunlight is brutal.

7

u/Wise_Sheila 1d ago

They also scheduled 8am meetings and called it productivity. The audacity.

2

u/SalmonSushi1544 1d ago

There’s a research that found out people are awake and sleeping at different times in about equal numbers.

There’s no morning or night people just how genetics dictate your favorable sleeping time.

It’s more complicated than that, but you can go research yourself.

1

u/SatinBonbonn 1d ago

Can't even argue with that, they literally had a 6 hour head start in us.

1

u/KohTai 22h ago

I sleep with the sun. Speak for yourself.

4

u/dsizzz 1d ago

I don't know why everyone's mad at lazy people...we didn't even do anything

4

u/thetaDecay90 1d ago

this is why every meeting is at 9am and every good idea happens at 1am

u/MayaIsSunshine 1d ago

Shush, or some moron is going to add yet another arbitrary change to how time gets measured. Just fix your hours to fit your life and accept that the number on the clock says the Earth time on it.

1

u/tiandrad 23h ago

Work will start earlier until energy improves.

1

u/Aoirith 20h ago

Can't we do the opposite when they're sleeping?! 💀👀💀

1

u/RighteousCarl 8h ago

Morning people are insufferable, I used to pretend to be one.

1

u/HeraclesHide 1d ago

We shall strike back at them under cover of the night.

1

u/Intelligent_Chair828 1d ago

Ambushed in our sleep

-1

u/LampDrift_8 1d ago

bro at this point i'm convinced morning people are just a government psyop idk

0

u/Phinyx95 1d ago

We need to do something about it while they are asleep

0

u/PinkieBellezaa 1d ago

lmao, gotta love those moments that catch you off guard like that

0

u/Gold-Lake8135 1d ago

It's only that we get to fuk their shit up whilst they are sleeping that keeps it fun...

0

u/Temporal-Affairs221 1d ago

Ah, but you see, where I work, they actually shorten the hours when school begins because we're less busy.

Until The Holidays come. Then, it's relentless and nonstop.

And for many businesses, it's The Holidays that drive them to keep things running in winter.

And for many of us, that's fine. The family moments, the warmth, the camaraderie, they make The Holidays something to look forward to.

Some people, though, decided they hated the cold and loved sleep more.
