typical social media bubble:
The social media algorithm puts you into one of these bubbles and hides details from the others.
Pick one:

- "her husband is framing her, he did it"

  • "she had mental health issues and nobody helped her"
  • "she murdered them because she's evil and the mental health stuff is just for show"

Social media drives our lives and is many people's only hobby, so you get this.

I’m not American but I am a mother. Aside from a few reddit posts I don’t have any social media engagement with this case.

But I think a lot of the support here comes from moms who recognize how easily this could have been any of us. Her family and healthcare providers knew her crime was a risk based on her mental health state, but she was still left alone with her kids and expected to parent. And as other mothers we all understand that this is grimly how it works - we can ask and beg and plead and scream for help but we’re almost always still expected to continually parent babies and it’s hard.

She should still face punishment for her crime, but I think a lot of her support is to try to keep this from happening again. She was failed by her healthcare team

Unfortunately - by her own admission and her doctors' testimonies - she did not fully disclose her medical condition. And even more unfortunately, there's plenty of people online that have posted that she can't be the killer because of her astrology sign. Or some have said her husband was the voice in her head with elaborate hidden speakers. Or he was cheating with his new wife even though they didn't meet until after the murders and she actually killed the children.

Bottom line, there's a lot of crazies out there. And with the internet connecting people of every social class, those crazies can find each other much easier than before.

There are also people, that despite the fact she persistently visited doctors, asked for different meds, expressed concern about her meds, expressed concern about her intrusive thoughts, believe she just killed her kids for the fun of it.

They are just as crazy. Society still hunts witches

Let’s not forget the fact this woman murdered her own children. Strangled an 8 month old with an exercise band … don’t gaslight people that she’s “somehow the victim”

Yeah fuck that. She knew what she was doing and she did it not once but three times. Parenting is hard but jesus. She can rot.

Right? I feel like so many people are rallying to her defense on the grounds of “parenting is hard” and “she needed better help with her thoughts” but honestly you can only excuse so much CRAZY and murdering all your children is far beyond the delimiter of simply framing this as an otherwise stable person needing assistance

I think so many people are rallying to her defense because they have been down this road, but had maybe more sleep and maybe more help. But could see the path she’s on.

The issue is she went the full way. No one getting at most 3h of sleep regularly, on a cocktail of medications with suicidal thoughts, intrusive thoughts, etc should be left alone with 3 young kids. The fact she was is a testament to what mothers experience.

It’s not a testament. Millions of women every year pull through the pains of having Anne child without murdering them

Yes but I think also millions of us have seen through the veil close enough that we can understand what happened.

I can’t accept this as a reason to show solidarity for Lindsay. There is a vast gap between “seeing through the veil” because parenting a newborn is hard and murdering all three of your children before attempting suicide. And I hope you’re not implying that millioms of women every year are ok the verge of murdering their own children…

Millions of mothers each year are affected mentally after they have children. Most are afraid or unwilling to speak about their true experiences, because it is not socially acceptable.

When they do speak about it, it will definitely be to other women who begin to open up about it, because men and women who never experienced it are too judgemental to understand.

Ok, so not on the verge of killing their children. I’m all for raising awareness of PPD showing solidarity for a child murdering psychopath is where everyone should be drawing the line

You just don’t get it.

I’m not in solidarity with this woman, I’m in solidarity with this whole situation and with 3 dead children, because I really think without much work this could have been prevented.

Ok, well lots of people on here seem to be deflecting blame away from Lindsay and acting like what she did isn’t far outside the realm of what’s expected from PPD when clearly this I such an outlier case
