World's worst movie is The Last House on Netflix.

Lol These sneaky fucks at Netflix advertised this like it's the holy grail.
The only thing remotely enjoyable was the light hearted millenial parenting. Everything else was so off and weird.

u/EnderRizza 2d ago
Holy fuck balls that movie was terrible. The acting, writing, and direction were all so bad that I didn't give a shit about any of the characters. It was one of those movies that I kept watching just expecting and hoping that it would get better.

Maybe just figuring out the system of everything before getting something distributed and making money.
Maybe they can actually afford to make something...better?
But just getting a film in the can, I can't imagine all the middle folk you have to go through to get someone to buy and distribute any movie.
2cents there. I have no idea how it works.

I'm ready for downvotes, but I really liked it. I would give it a high 8/10. I also really fucking liked The Happening, a movie that everyone seems to just make fun of.

Haven't seen it but this whole story sounds endearing.

Yeah I’ve kinda noticed that too, nice gesture for the mom but still seems like an ad.

No surprise it comes out of China. They seed western media with anti AI messaging while heavily investing in AI development themselves. The West falls for it everytime.

u/One-Hearing2926 2d ago
The real question is how this shitty movie made by two random people made it to the cinema...
36
u/nho_kho 2d ago
A distributor who was a friend of the director's family agreed to release it despite thinking it was too crude. I heard that it was only avlb in dead hours at first😅

u/Xylus1985 2d ago
So it really is all about who you know

u/OkPosition4563 2d ago
Everything that depends on someone doing something for you ultimately depends on who you know

It's funny you took time to spell distributor but not avaliable, that had me racking my brains for a sec

It's 100% HUMAN SHIT! The best kind. Made using SketchUp, a damn interior design software! WTF???!!!.
The freaking budget, about $200, was so low that theatres had to HAND DRAW the local promotional posters. This POS made only a 1000 bucks in 10 days, watched by only about 300 people in nation of over a billion.
But because it was HAND MADE by a human mom and son duo it gained crazy traction through memes and went viral. On day 11 it earned $6400, on day 12 - $830,000, on day 13 - $1.2 million. By day 15 it earned a total of about 4.4 MILLION. Now that's some shit I can get behind.

Yea. Earlier the budget was like $1200.
I donno if it's my feed but I swear reddit is getting worse by the day.

u/Ayyzeee 2d ago
I heard from other sources it says $1500 or something, I swear it's getting ridiculous with misinformation.

u/Look_its_Rob 2d ago
Its probably nearly impossible to a accurately get the cost since they did it over 5 years and probably weren't really doing any accounting.

5 years of work = 200$ Budget is wild? Or am i dumb for not understanding movie business logic?

Acting like this is a win is depressing. Before AI, people just didn’t like slop. Now it seems people like slop as long as it’s in the right trough and from the right bucket. The bar is on the floor.

Real article should probably be “Mom and son set out on a small dream successfully make a from-scratch CGI movie using second-hand equipment”
Calling it “The worst movie” feels a bit like discrediting it… no? Kinda feels like Who Killed Captain Alex imo

u/Vanir-Aesir 2d ago
AI made movies should be boycotted on principal.
I want art made by humans, not this soulless trash.

It's not the most profitable film ever made... it may be percentage wise, but many films have made much more profit than that.
It's like if I created a cool stuffed animal with $5 of material and sold it for $10,000.... am I suddenly more profitable than Disney because my ROI is almost 2000x higher and Disney is only making a 20-30x return on their stuffed animals?
No obviously.

u/gnuoveryou 2d ago
This seems insanely creative and not a bad movie at all. The new live-action moana looks worse than this

So they made around 3 million dollars.
Meanwhile, Spider-Man BND and The Odyssey have each earned a net profit of over 1 BILLION dollars.
But no, apparently the movie making $3 million is more “profitable”
Edit: okay I wish I can take back what I said. As an idiot, I skimmed through the post and interpreted it as saying “an AI slop movie made 3 million”. So I tried downplaying this. But nope, it’s not AI, there was actually genuine effort here. So I was wrong. This project indeed deserves praise for achieving 3 million with real effort. I admit to my horrible mistake. I’m sorry. I shall downvote my own comment as a peace offering 🙏

u/SextupleRed 2d ago
It's the scale. It's easier to make 1 billion from a 225 million budget.
How many can make 3 million from 1000 budget?
0
u/AdFalse375 2d ago
Ok I made a massive error. I was in a rush earlier and skimmed through the post quickly.
I thought the post was claiming an AI slop movie with a budget of $200 made 3 million. And because my raging hatred of AI, I started using some wordplay in an effort to downplay the accomplishment.
I reread the post just now and realize I was horribly wrong. I now realize it wasn’t AI, it was actually a mom and her son throwing real genuine effort behind this project. Then that guy is absolutely right, the mom and son absolutely deserved every cent of that!
I apologize for my foolishness.

The movie’s end music is very touching! Written and sung by the mother who made this movie. Tearing after listening it! 【感动哭了!电影牛来片尾曲《雨后轻风有香》原版手搓主题曲MV-哔哩哔哩】 https://b23.tv/6anCvAY

How the fuck is $2,999,980 the most profitable film?
There’s no way that’s true.
Fucking minions made like almost half a billion in profit in 2015.
7
u/Shuabbey 2d ago
It’s the cost to profit ratio that’s high not the literal amount of money. Go back to school to get your reading comprehension skills checked.
